Probably so, Cold Pizza and beer, breakfast of champions
Years ago, I worked with an old computer guy who finally fessed up one night that invented “Pong”. Later, I sat next to a guy, on a plane, who invented the FLIR. I think randomly meeting Mr. Post would way more unbelievable.
And?
How was it?
LOL!
All the toys...so cool. Some companies also sent you good stuff if you mailed them a specific amount of box tops. Great memories of the folks snoozing away (party hardy?) while helping myself to one of twelve Kellogg variety-pack boxes before plunking down for Saturday morning cartoons.
Usually got a good mixed diet the rest of the time so all good. Most everyone deserves the occasional splurge.
Why did they even put Special K in the variety pack with Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, and Froot Loops?
Pop-tarts still stand as the worst fake food ever in my food pyramid. Puffing a cigar while chugging a gallon of Mad Dog 20-20 is more healthy for kids.
To see what we'd do to make it edible for under-teens. Waffle syrup did it for me before they replaced maple with tortured sugar. Good to see a sibling of the era. As a boy I hooked up with the other neighborhood scalawags on bicycles and saw what trouble we could cause before being called home for dinner. And the parents were totally hooked up via telephone on top of us all the time, letting us enjoy feeling free. What did girls do?
I guess I should read the article .... but I think his tombstone should be a giant pop-tart.
We used the Special K to feed the ducks at the lake. We, too, rode our bikes everywhere, traipsed in the woods and played fort with the boys. We played kickball and roller skated in the street. We played Ghost in the Graveyard after dinner. We caught lightening bugs.
On summer afternoons, we sat in our secret hideout under the weeping willow tree and read the library books we got from the bookmobile that came around once a week. In the winter we went sledding, ice skating, skitching and had snow ball fights.
We rode or walked to the shopping center for pizza, ice cream, or milk and bread for our parents. As young teens, we walked around the neighborhood just talking about nothing and everything. It was a great childhood.
We talked about boys, first hiow dumb they were, then as we got older how cute they were. We spent one summer riding our bikes to another neighborhood to ride past the house of a boy one friend ‘was in love with’. We never saw him outside and she was too chicken to ring the bell.
Thanks for letting me take that trip down memory lane.
My favorites as well.
Well, I made it for the kids once. It was OK for being all sugar
So beautiful. Thank you ever so much for reminding me why I served and have to continue doing so every way remaining possible. The bastards stole an election and four years from everyone but they’re NOT going to steal the future.
Wish he’d thought of sugar free Pop-Tarts. I miss them.
