WASHINGTON, Thursday, Feb. 11.

FATE OF THE NEW MILITARY NOMINATIONS.

The vast batch of nominations of Brigadier and Major-Generals sent by the President to the Senate yesterday, were returned to the President to-day by the Military Committee, with the statement that there were no vacancies whatsoever for new Major-Generals and Brigadier-Generals, and that these appointments were therefore illegal.

GEN. SCHOFIELD's CONFIRMATION.

The Senate Military Committee are unanimous in their determination not to report Gen. SCHOFIELD's name to the Senate for confirmation.

THE KANSAS SENATOR.

The new Kansas Senator (CARNEY) is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is more radical than JIM LANE even.

AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION.

A Committee of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of the United States, Revs. S.O. WYLE, R.W. SLOANE, and WM. BROWNE, of Philadelphia, had an interview with the President to-day on the subject of amending the Constitution in favor of freedom. The President promised to give the matter his earnest attention.

The friends of the Conscription Bill hope to bring it to a vote to-morrow. Gen. SCHENOK will close the debate.

The draft of the new Bankrupt Law was made by Mr. JENKS, of the Judiciary Committee, the best lawyer in Rhode Island. It knocks stone dead the carefully prepared arrangements for profitable office-holding and expense-making, so manifest in the bill referred to the committee. The principal features are, that it makes the United States District Courts Courts of Bankruptcy, and gives the appointment of receivers to their Judges, and while relieving debtors protects creditors. It is a combination of the best features of the English, French and German bankruptcy systems. It is simple, free from verbiage and unincumbered with forms and expensive machinery. It will be introduced to-morrow.

The bill giving the President twelve thousand dollars to reconstruct the interior of his stable,

You’ve exhausted the coverage of the War of Northern Aggression.

Why don’t you move on to the New York Times cheerleading for U.S. involvement in World War One?

After all, it gave us the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Treaty of Versailles, World War Two, and Adolph Hitler.

Those NYT print-warriors know how to pick ‘em.
