On a hot August afternoon, I finished a call with a client as I opened the door to the room of my 2-year-old daughter, Alice. She’d slept a little longer than usual, and I needed to wake her so we could retrieve my 4-year-old daughter, Grace, from school.
I leaned over Alice in her crib, and she was stiff and blue. Bad, bad, very bad ran through my brain. I started CPR, counting two breaths per 30 chest thrusts, and somehow managed to call 911. Eventually, the paramedics arrived. They told me to stand back. I did.
Shortly after, I heard some version of “She’s gone. I’m so sorry.”
I collapsed and realized I was under Alice’s birthday banner, which I had lovingly hung 11 days prior. “She can’t be dead! She just had her birthday! She was fine! What the hell just happened?” I screamed.
I didn’t get an answer to that question. An autopsy, and testing, turned up nothing. Her death was classified as sudden unexplained death in childhood, which means that a cause of death simply cannot be determined. It’s a rare outcome that mystifies scientists—just 400 children a year are classified with SUDC after they die, though it is the fifth leading classification of death in toddlers. And rare means nothing when your child is one of the statistics.

Again, you can believe what you like about the Covid shot. I’m not concerned about that in this thread.
My concern on this thread is that so many people immediately assumed that the child may have died (10 years ago!) due to the Covid shot. That does not seem a rational response, when the facts were there in black and white to read.
(And SIDS is a syndrome that’s probably been with us forever - we still don’t know what causes it, or if there may be numerous causes. But we did develop precautions that decreased it.)
There have always been risks with vaccination of any kind.
We surely know correlation for many of the cases still occurring, per the government stats I posted for you, but you are apparently impervious to new-to-you information.
During her pregnancy my daughter in laws doctor was telling her to get the jab.
She told him to pound sand.
As I said, I’m not discussing the Covid shot on this thread.
You’re the one who seems obsessed with it.
Covid strain “back from the future”
and to the other SIDS disappeared reply-
no it didn’t.

I didn’t mention or raise the Covid shot at all.
Maybe you just need a FR timeout.
“There have always been risks with vaccination of any kind.”
Correct, there have always been risks with vaccinations of any kind and that includes any and all medical procedures as well.
The question is not if there are risks, the question is has the degree of risk increased?
You’re the one who mentioned ‘baby jabs’.
If you are against ALL vaccination, that’s fine. But nothing dictates that your crusade has to be mine, too.
My parents lost my sister at age 4 to SIDS, although there really wasn’t a name for it. This was before I was born so I never saw her other than her grave every Memorial Day.
My parents never got over it. My mother was very protective of us kid (me/surviving sister) and my dad, who was an avid photographer, put away all of his gear seldom taking photos later.
So sad, too bad it’s not better understood, but I suppose there are multiple ways for it to happen.
Dude (or Dudette), I was presenting data that you don’t want to consider but is relevant.
Do you maybe belong over at DU?
I don’t know. I know that I refused a ‘traditional’ vaccine back in the 1970s because I just had a ‘feeling’ about it; and as it turned out a number of people suffered Guillain–Barré syndrome from that.
I’ve never had a problem with any vaccine I’ve taken, and don’t know anyone who has - but I’m sure that others have.
That’s very clever.
Have a good evening.
Yes, but this child was 2. Once the baby can roll over all that stuff about sleeping one way or another is moot.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. The article indicates that this child was determined to have died of SUDC - another type of sudden, unexplained death that occurs in slightly older children.
Sounds like a nightmare. God bless them.
Most 2 years have already had several shots.
ANY vaccination. kids get them, been happening for decades. stop thinking there is only one type of vax. so what if somme one thought MRNA, all sorts of shots kids get and veers apparently has plenty of reports since 1990’s.
You are welcome. It would have been helpful if she had started her story with that information.
Of course I understand that. My kid got them all. I support true vaccinations.
But not the monstrosity known as the covid vaccination. My job forced me to get it, which was bad enough.
