Not all private flights are required to file flight plans.

Close to 99% of experienced pilots FILE a FLIGHT PLAN.. WHY?

In case of an UNEXPECTED incident and the plane is forced down or crashes rescue workers have an IMMEDIATE route to follow in hopes of rescuing survivors ASAP.

Personally, I would file one if I were a licensed pilot. But, the fact remains, they are not required of all private fights.
