at msn referencing an article at Business Insider (paywall) about a FIFTEEN KNOT floating platform serving as a base of operations for forward-deployed SEAL assets.
In 2017 the US Navy redesignated the Expeditionary Landing Base as a 'warship'

There are various stories about her deployments:

At a speed of 15 knots with no discoverable defensive armaments in a 15-minute web search, I designate the USS Lewis B. Puller a 'sitting duck' and representative of failed leadership in both the USN and Pentagon.
Oh, and don't forget that the 2 SEALS who DROWNED were conducting operations from this supposed sea-based SOF FOB...

Chesty rates a carrier, at least.
PLENTY of defensive armaments!
> Chesty rates a carrier, at least. <
Ha, yes. But instead today we name carriers after politicians (presidents).
And that’s a pet peeve of mine. We fought a war to get rid of kings. Then we started treating presidents as if they were kings. Hail to the Chief. 21-gun salutes. Etc.
No wonder most modern presidents behave in an imperial manner.
(I had to say “most” there because Trump was the exception.)
Flying fish, beware!
That guy on the right needs some PT.....................
I thought that this was the ship that shot down the missile with CIWS Phalanx?
maybe i’m wrong..
LOL!
Not a sign of a serious Navy. A floating clown car filled with spec ops.
> Yes, a sitting duck for even the least armed adversary. <
The Houthis recently claimed to have fired a missile at the USS USS Lewis B. Puller. The Pentagon denies it.
News here in Norfolk said it was the USS Gravely, a DDG.
thanks
The Patrol Coastals (PCs) were excellent for this type of thing.
I read that when Chesty Puller would visit a Marine base he would go to the brig because he wanted to see the “real Marines.”
I didn’t know that the Navy was short on mothballed ships to use for practice attacks. Now they have found a way to make them bigger so DEI pilots can hit the targets too. How classy we are.
The LOVE Boat, promising targets for every one, the Love boat, bend over sailor cuz here it comes.
I ran out of time earlier, but try as I might, I could find nary a listing of armaments - defensive or otherwise - for this ship.
