I came across this blurb about the USS Lewis B. Puller

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/take-a-look-at-the-tanker-like-warship-the-us-has-used-as-a-floating-navy-seal-base/ss-BB1hP64U

at msn referencing an article at Business Insider (paywall) about a FIFTEEN KNOT floating platform serving as a base of operations for forward-deployed SEAL assets.

In 2017 the US Navy redesignated the Expeditionary Landing Base as a 'warship'

https://www.defensedaily.com/navy-redesignating-usns-puller-commissioned-warship/navy-usmc/

There are various stories about her deployments:

https://www.businessinsider.com/uss-lewis-puller-tanker-like-warship-floating-navy-seal-base-2024-1

At a speed of 15 knots with no discoverable defensive armaments in a 15-minute web search, I designate the USS Lewis B. Puller a 'sitting duck' and representative of failed leadership in both the USN and Pentagon.

Oh, and don't forget that the 2 SEALS who DROWNED were conducting operations from this supposed sea-based SOF FOB...

Chesty rates a carrier, at least.

Yikes! This doesn't seem like a very bright idea, does it?

PLENTY of defensive armaments!

At a speed of 15 knots with no discoverable defensive armaments, and likely no armour as well. Yes, a sitting duck for even the least armed adversary.

Not a sign of a serious Navy. A floating clown car filled with spec ops.

The Patrol Coastals (PCs) were excellent for this type of thing.

I read that when Chesty Puller would visit a Marine base he would go to the brig because he wanted to see the “real Marines.”

I didn’t know that the Navy was short on mothballed ships to use for practice attacks. Now they have found a way to make them bigger so DEI pilots can hit the targets too. How classy we are.
