“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than anyone, and never won album of the year,” he said of Beyoncé. “Even by your own metric that does not work. Think about that, most Grammys, never won album of the year, that doesn’t work.”

Actually, it was “Rock Lobster” by the B-52’s.

if he’ cared that much about his wife, you’d think he would not cheat on her.

Like the Will Smith relationship, they both have open marriages yet go waaaay overboard with their attempts to defend their wives.

Haven't watched the Grammys or Academy Awards in many years. Most of the people in those professions support the destruction of this country, so I have zero interest in their "achievements".

“In the spring of 1980, John Lennon, whose post-Beatles music career had been on hiatus for nearly five years while focusing on raising his son Sean, was prompted to record again after hearing “Rock Lobster”.[26] According to Lennon, “it sounds just like Ono’s music, so I said to meself, ‘it’s time to get out the old axe and wake the wife up!’”[27][28].”

In many respects they are not unlike your typical leftist democrat, just a different line of work and an amplified microphone.

Yes very true.

I was a big Tull fan in college, saw them in concert 6 times in the 70’s. Even got Anderson’s autograph.

I loved how he wove classical into a lot of his work. And look what he’s doing in his later years.

The Grammys have been a political hack award forever. I remember when Roberta Flack got Album of the Year the same year that such albums as Led Zeppelin 4 and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys came out. What a pathetic joke. I’ve paid them no mind ever since.

We still buy and listen to vinyl albums. It’s just like the old days, only so much better with the sound system and speakers we have. Plus, we also do the Spotify versions if/when we want to. We have Bluetooth speakers that we can take with us if we need to move around. Kinda fun.

It may not be for everyone, but yes, albums are still a thing.

You can buy vinyl albums online or at brick and mortar stores, usually specialty music stores.

A while back I heard that there were systems that would "read" vinyl records using lasers rather than needles. This was to prevent wear of the vinyl over time.

Do you know if that is a thing? If so, do you have such a system? Are they reasonably priced or at outrageous audiophile prices?

Led Zeppelin 4 and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys came out

Traffic was not a big seller like Falck's hit that year.

] Pop Matters offered yet another viewpoint, calling it "an album that's easy to listen to over and over, but one that seldom shows up on 'best of' lists." It commented that most of the songs are highly underrated and require multiple listens to appreciate.[5] It was voted number 625 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums 3rd Edition (2000). [6]

LZ IV was actually on of the best selling albums. Bottom line - all we get now are Roberta Flack's (who btw ws fantastic) and no Traffic or Zeps. They were bragging how all the nominees were women, so much for diversity, hardly any "rock" bands around anymore like the 70's - you know, bands with musicians and no autotune.

I can ask my husband. He’s my music tech guru. He loves this kind of stuff, and puts it into action. When the workday is finished, the office is shut down, and the music starts up.

Hubby has every kind of gadget, tool, or thingamabob that you need to go from old school analog to digital music. His system is somewhat impressive, but probably not to those really in the business. I don’t know any average folks who have a setup the way we do though.

We have a turntable with a regular needle.

I couldn’t begin to tell you if something is an outrageous price or not in the music world. I would guess that you can go cheap, mid-range, or the skies the limit on affordability. If it fits into your budget, then go for it. Otherwise, we wait and save up if it’s that important to us.

Ok, he poked his head out of the office for a minute, so I asked him. He said those laser types were available in the 80’s for the extremely rich audiophile, and gave way to the CD era. He doesn’t think they survived the 90’s when vinyl became passé.

He said as long as people get a good needle and keep their vinyl clean, balance the tone arm, and so on, that there’s no need for the laser type anymore.
