The 2023 New York Jets could be encapsulated in two photos: The hopeful beginning, when the flag-waving Aaron Rodgers led his new teammates onto the MetLife Stadium field before the opener, and moments later, when the presumed franchise savior was helped off the turf with a season-ending Achilles injury.
But in speaking to 30 sources in and around the team, The Athletic is revealing deeper issues that further sabotaged the Jets' efforts to survive without Rodgers under center.
'It's just such a f***ing mess,' one Jets coach told The Athletic. 'Something has to change.'

Drama Queen gotta drama......................
At least the people in Green Bay are happy with the Jets. When they need to trade in a worn out, slightly crazed QB, they know the Jets will give them something of value and take the prima donna off their hands. Knowledgable Jet fans have rightly concluded that the mess will not be resolved until the team is sold to rational people.
The Packers were wise to let Rodgers go.
If they had re-signed Flacco, they likely would have made the playoffs. The AFC was wide open.
90% of the time, seemingly across all major professional sports, bringing in the the aging ‘star’ to put a team “over the top” is an expensive failure
The failure is even more pronounced when that “star” is expected to revitalize a failing team.
Of course there are examples of success, but IMHO, it usually starts with fan-base excitement “We got XYZ on the team!” sells tickets and jerseys, but ends with anger and disappointment.
My blocker keeps me out of DM, but here is a link to the original article. I imagine interviewing thirty people in any big shot team, or even organization, with a recent game-changing event, would generate some printable muck.

So true. 1993 KC Chiefs. Montana and Marcus Allen.
Weird.
Wow! They interviewed 30 people “around the team!” I don’t care about the damn Jets but I don’t take anything at face value that the dickhead media spews.
It only takes one exception (Tom Brady to Tampa) to make idiots forget all the failed examples.
That is a perfect example of a exception.
In football, I was thinking of Von Miller to the Bills. Bills are paying him approx. $20 million/year, and while he had some initial success, was injured 16 months ago, and has been invisible since. Or Pablo Sandoval on the (baseball) Red Sox. $100 million for 5 years, and I think he made it 3 years.
Guys like Wade Boggs, Darryl Strawberry, Cecil Fielder, Dwight Gooden, Jimmy Key, David Cone, etc. all seemed to resurrect their careers and be important contributors to those teams.
From everything I've read about that teams, this was mostly attributable to the quiet managerial style of Joe Torre and the respect he commanded among his players.
NFL is totally fixed.
Vinny Testaverde is available.
He’s a vocal anti vaxer . He must be destroyed .
I’m willing to give Rodgers a full season next year before I pass judgement on him.
There is a simple way to avoid negative press…WIN!
HBO’s “Hard Knocks” season 20 abruptly ends right before Rogers’s injury.
