“...You don’t want to chamber a 300BLK into .223 barrel.....”
LOL....for sure!!!!
I made all my own 300BLK from mostly dinged-up 5.56 cases.
I wrap my 300BLK magazines with some green tape so I don’t inadvertently do that... I keep that ammo pretty well-separated for that reason. I won’t even shoot the two on the same day.
FWIW, I recently went to a 6.5 Grendel upper. It’s way more expensive to shoot and reload, but I certainly like its longer-range ballistics over the 300BLK. To me, the 300BLK is about like a 30-30 ballistically. But for a close quarters tactical round, it’s pretty darn good....nothin’ quite like a .30 cal bullet off an AR15 platform.
For 10 yrs in Uncle Sam’USAF, carried the ol’ ‘16 as ‘Security Augmentee in Thailand for 3 yrs, and then as Cold War guy, had to qualify many times while stationed at a TAC fighter base.
Once out, bought Savage 99A in .308Win. Big difference from having SPROING to rifle recoil!
I agree, stay with the ‘15! I hear Brownell has the ol’ USAF green retro’15! Did lovr those handle sights.
The question is how hard is it on barrels? A battle weapon designed for distance isn’t worth a damn if velocity and accuracy start to plummet after 1,000 rounds.
Great article, thank you!!!
Sigh… one more caliber … my wallet groans…
If recoil is like a .308, why not just have a .308?
The Tennessee Firearms associations take on the Tennessee GA’s attempts at “gun safety” all fail the Bruen Test. The states continue as if the Supreme Court ruling never happened. https://app.getresponse.com/view.html?x=a62b&m=B0yEeg&mc=rQ&s=zMOLvs&u=izZc&z=EVnshwg&;
This is just to get people to stop buying 223 weapons...........
They have many in between.
Got's to have the right (perfectr) tool for each job.
'sides, there is that room in the vault for one more long gun, back there behind the second row.
At 80,000psi of the 277 that barrel won’t last long.
Our politicians don’t care about cost, but I can’t see this going over at NATO.
$4/round seems a bit pricey.
With that naval gun sized projectile, likely use a slower powder burn rate, lest the result look like fudd’s shotgun after bugs stuffs a carrot into his end.
