Anger is growing among farmers, who are firmly awaiting the announcements promised by the government. This Wednesday January 24, striking actions, particularly in the southwest of France, increased.

"Empty everywhere, grab the tractors and go!" The words chanted into the microphone of Jose Perez, head of the Lot-et-Garonne rural coordination, in front of the gates of the Agen prefecture on fire, are the illustration of a movement of angry farmers which is hardening.

Throughout the day of Wednesday, January 24, images from almost everywhere in France, and even from Europe, multiplied in the media or on social networks.

Agen, epicenter of actions

Without concrete answers from the government, agricultural unions have called on farmers to carry out new roadblocks or actions at the local level.

At least 200 tractors invaded the ring road of the Gironde capital, an inevitable axis to connect Paris and Spain.

Further south, the town of Agen crystallized tensions from late morning to late afternoon. Around 11 a.m, a fast-food restaurant was targeted by farmers. Bales of hay were dumped at a McDonald's...

It’s not difficult French, although my vocabulary is a bit rusty.

Curiously, all the ads are in English!

I formally studied French in a quickie course offered in my senior year in high school six weeks of German, six weeks of Spanish and six weeks of French.

All this use of translation of various languages is a necessity for me but I learn more as I translate these languages.

It’s hard for the farmers to make a living due to the regulations originating in Brussels from the European Union.

The only feasible way to deal with the grievances if France is staying in the EU is to subsidize the farmers with more handouts.

A Leftist in the National Assembly Francois Ruffin said the other day that France needs to pull out of international agreements involving agriculture.

Relief from the EU regs or give us handouts they are stifled from making a living in farming.

The Green Agenda wants to cut food production.

No they get breaks like no sales tax on diesel fuel. But if food production was not subsidized you’d be shocked at the true cost of food.
