Candidates in the crowded race for Sacramento mayor agree that climate change is a global crisis demanding local action.
But their plans to tackle the formidable issue vary, and some are rather light on specifics. That was one of the key takeaways from Monday night’s climate justice forum hosted by the League of Women’s Voters.
The wide-ranging discussion touched on questions around implementing the city’s climate action goals, safe streets for pedestrians and cyclists, public transportation and water sustainability.
Steve Hansen, a former City Council member
“I’m going to bring back a robust community bike share program that is city owned, or regionally owned because it is essential to connect to transit and to give people mobility options,” Hansen said
Flojaune “Flo” Cofer, senior director of policy at Public Health Advocates
“I want to make sure that we set some priorities for the city of Sacramento that include our climate goals, and we’re going to take action every year to make sure that we’re expending a portion of our budget to achieve them,” Cofer answered. “The second is, that I want to make sure that we actually have a standing committee on climate” to draw on the expertise and innovation of community members.

The best way to respond to a non-problem is by doing nothing.
A circular firing squad is the best thing they can do to save the planet.
Together they probably use more carbon than some small African countries.
Don’t.
“safe streets for pedestrians”
How do they even say that with a straight face? They flood the country with Third World criminals, gut the police force, handcuff whatever police are left, empty the prisons, and then say they want “safe streets for pedestrians”.
I’d be on the floor LAUGHING if I was there.
You cannot have Affordable Housing and Open Borders. You may have one or the other. You cannot have both.
🙄. More electric bikes?
Candidates are “rather light on specifics.”
What? No candidate is running on honesty? This Climate Catastrophe Platform doesn’t sell? Not even to insane Californians?
1. You are allowed one airplane flight per year.
2. You are allowed three cups of coffee per year.
3. Gasoline is banned.
4. You are allowed 500 miles per year in your EV.
5. You are not allowed to eat any meat, only bugs.
6. You cannot heat your abode above 60F in the winter or cool it below 85F in summer.
7. All electricity will be generated by unreliable wind and solar.
8. Your electricity rates will quadruple within three years.
9. You must live within 15 minutes walking distance from your job.
10. You will live in a 25 story tall condo.
“community bike share program that is city owned”
Every single one of those bikes will end up in the river within a month.
You can’t have a nation with open borders, let alone civilization.
The moral busybodies will torture us endlessly.
The famous quote:
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
The real goal of most any government institution is to squander as much taxpayer money as possible.
Especially if a percentage of it goes to you, a family member, or major campaign contributor.
The “issue” is merely the mechanism to accomplish this purpose.
These candidates are like most politicians who are failures of most things but somehow find a niche in being a con-artist (typical politician).
Also note:
The more imprecisely the problem is defined and more obscure the solution the better it is to facilitate the swindle.
"The online event was co-sponsored by a host of local environmental organizations."So I followed the "Event" link which takes you to an "EventBrite" announcement which in turn leads to the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County and the event details "Sacramento Mayoral Candidate Forum on Climate Justice."
A quick search eventually gets you to the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County" where you learn that "Our League: The League of Women Voters of Sacramento County is an organization of individuals of all gender identities."
So, in all honesty, it should be the "League of Gender Confused Voters of Sacramento County." One concludes that they are as confused about gender as they are about climate. Surprise, surprise.
That tells you everything you need to know, and the origin of the entire raft of problems.
That is from C.S. Lewis, one of my fave authors of all time.
“The League of Women Voters of Sacramento County is an organization of individuals of all gender identities.”
Babylon Bee has got to do a story on these clowns.
