Around 8:30 p.m., Joliet police learned Nance had been spotted by U.S. Marshals in Natalia, Texas – 30 miles southwest of San Antonio. Natalia, Texas is 1,200 miles away from Joliet – more than an 18-hour drive. Joliet police said Nance was found in a car at a Valero gas station.
It is believed that Nance died by suicide with a handgun after a confrontation with Texas law enforcement, according to Joliet police.

I don’t know about you but I’m just a wee bit doubtful.
Can’t speak for other states, but assuming police had his license plate and it was still on his car, then he never had a chance, as Texas is now loaded up with Flock License Plate Cameras, pretty much snapping (and logging) you the moment you leave your driveway.

There’s a reason we call it, “Joilet the toilet.” (Yes, we’re aware that’s spelled wrong) or, “Joyless.”

Apparently the chief of police in Joliet IL goes by the surname of Jungles. It’s a jungle out there. Perp may have had no connections to mexico, or otherwise, but might have reasoned that nobody would be guarding the border in that direction either? I would imagine it’s harder to get into mexico than out of mexico these days.
"Nance's prior arrest records indicated that he was previously arrested for aggravated discharge of a weapon involving a woman. Court records indicate Nance was out on bond in connection with that 2023 shooting case and was still awaiting trial."
That was the basis of Giuliani’s “broken window” policy. Criminals move on to commit worse crimes. Crime would happen a lot less if we had a fair and impartial judicial system that actually considers the victims.
Throw the book at people who use guns or knives in the commission of a crime, and leave peaceful citizens alone who wish to be armed while in public. It’s not that hard.
Ahhh, but that would show disparate treatment and therefore be deemed racist. You see, justice cannot be blind.

1,161 miles; driving time 7 hours 13 minutes. So 7 hours plus by ICE. That’s a long way to drive by yourself just to commit suicide.
