A remake was done in the 70s with Marlo Thomas and Wayne Rogers. Marlo had the lead role.
You've never seen it on tv again for a reason.

Poor Marlo should’ve just left on a high note, with That Girl ๐

Just looked at the imdb listing for that... I’ll take your word for it that it was a stinker, but it had a hell of a cast... most notably with Orson Welles as Mr Potter.
On a different note, in the ‘80s, my family attended the same church for a while as Frank Capra. He always struck me as a such a nice, humble old gentleman. I’m sure he’ll be rolling in his grave with respect to however Hollywood plans to disfigure on his classic films.

I did not think that version was too bad. I actually saw it before the original. But, yeah, the original IAWL is easily one of the best movies ever made. There are lots of YouTube videos that show people’s reaction when seeing it for the first time. Spoiler alert: Nearly all of them cry like babies at the end.
Some things should never be touch and IAWL is one of them. I can only imagine what a vomit-inducing mess a Woke remake of IAWL will be. I am not surprised that a remake is forthcoming as Hollywood seems to be out of fresh ideas for everything.

So, instead of a male lead, we had a female lead? Now it is time for a black male lead, next a black female lead or a Hispanic lead? Maybe a gay lead? A transgender lead? A handicapped lead?

I remember when the Marlo Thomas one came out. I sure did not watch it! Marlo Thomas is not somebody I would want in my sphere of associates. It reflects poorly on Peggy Noonan that she hangs around with the likes of Marlo Thomas. Danny indulged his princess a bit much.
Note that Orson Welles played Mr. Potter.
