WASHINGTON, Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Gen. BUTLER, while here to-day, received a telegram from Fortress Monroe that the flag-of-truce boat from City Point, had brought the news that the Rebel Government had evacuated Richmond, and removed the archives and all portable public property to South Carolina.
THE SPEAKER AND MR. LINCOLN'S RENOMINATION.
SCHUYLER COLTAX's letter in the Chronicle, denying that he is committed to Mr. LINCOLN's renomination, has caused great sensation in political circles here.
GEN. BUTLER AND THE EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS.
Gen. BUTLER had a long interview to day with the President and Secretary of War. It is understood that he goes back to Fortress Monroe thoroughly tacked by the Government, and clothed with full authority to conduct the business of exchanges, and in his own way.
The report that he made new propositions to the rebel Government is untrue. His offer was simply to exchange man for man, and officer for officer, without any ifs or buts. He leaves to-morrow.
CONGRESSIONAL PERSONALITIES.
Mr. COLLAMER's reply to-day to Senator BAYARD was annihilating. The Delaware Senator was considered to have been extinguished as a lawyer as well as a Copperhead.
THE ARKANSAS DELEGATION.
The Arkansas delegation had another interview with the President to-day. Mr. LINCOLN had not completed his reply to their request, but promised to give it to-morrow.
MILITARY ASSIGNMENT.
Maj. C.H. MENEELY has been ordered to duty on the Staff of Gen. COUCH as Chief Mustering Officer of the Department of the Susquehanna.
CONFIRMATION OF RICHARD BUSTEED.
Richard BUSTEED has been unanimously confirmed by the Senate as Judge for the District of Alabama.
NOMINATION OF CHAS. A. DANA.
CHAS. A. DANA was to-day nominated as Second Assistant Secretary of War. He, of couse, will be confirmed.

Reading about Madisonville/New Orleans and the surrounding areas as I sit here in Mandeville, La. Can’t imagine being here in 1864 (Transplant from Massachusetts/6 years now) The history here is amazing.
