Intuit requires a picture of your drivers license or passport to reset your password

Posted on 01/20/2024 11:09:53 AM PST by A Cyrenian

I forgot my password to sign into Intuit when I tried to install TurboTax.

I had to call their customer service to get to the page to reset the password. Their representative sent me an email with a link to enter some information.

They require you to send a picture of your license or passport before you can reset the password.

This seem excessive just to reset a password.

Has anyone had any experiences like this?

Thanks

Synchrony Bank wanted my wife to use her phone to video tape her face and access to her phone’s pictures folder (which is empty), just to set up for online bill pay. She correctly refused, and paid the bill in full, and destroyed the card.

I have been told the IRS is using the same system to allow businesses to submit 1099s electronically.

Open a new account under a different email.

QuickBooks is Intuit. I use it at least once per week for payroll. It makes me change my password once a quarter or so - but it has NEVER asked for my ID.
As far as Intuit is concerned, I may be a cat.

Had to get a new phone number, and can’t access my PayPal account anymore. Had to start a new one, and even though I’m the same person, same bank account and address, I’ve had to close the PayPal credit account and go to paper bills for the PayPal Mastercard, since there is no way to transfer them. Be glad they have a procedure that will work for you. Or quit, whichever you prefer.

Just tell them you’re an illegal and don’t have a driver’s license yet

I would not do it.

I use Intuit and had to reset my password and no such thing was asked.

Say you are a “migrant”. They will give you a password to log in right away.

Sounds like Intuit wants to steal your identity.

Update: you must have forgotten/lost everything about your Intuit/TT account? Then this at the bottom:

(They are trying to prevent fraudulent use of your account).

I currently recommend “Bitwarden” for “remembering things”😉:
