How loyalty to Trump could become the latest wedge threatening to divide Republicans
Washington Examiner ^ | January 20, 2024 | Cami Mondeaux

Former President Donald Trump‘s penchant for punishing GOP detractors is trickling down to Congress as some of his most ardent supporters are using loyalty to the former president as a litmus test for the Republican Party.

Since launching his bid for the 2024 presidential election, Trump has kept a continuous calculation of those who have thrown their support behind him and, more importantly, those who have not. For those who have considered other candidates, the former president has been quick to decry their disloyalty and even vow to make them suffer politically.

“Bob Good won’t be electable when we get done with him,” Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign, told the Cardinal News.

That threat is in reference to Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA), who threw his support behind Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) last year. The endorsement has angered Trump and his allies, with several falling in line behind the president to target the Virginia Republican.

“Here we have Bob Good, who has doubled down on his endorsement for DeSantis and his clear disdain and hate for President Trump,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a staunch supporter of Trump, told the Washington Examiner. “He doesn’t think President Trump is electable. Bob Good is disloyal, which means you can’t trust him. People need to know this.”

Good brushed off Greene’s comments, arguing that he would rather focus on government spending and securing the border rather than internal disputes.

“I don’t have time to waste commenting on every silly comment made in a House Conference meeting or on Twitter/X,” Good told the Washington Examiner in a statement. “But if members are looking to punish conservatives for trying to keep our promises, good luck keeping a majority.”

There will be no pain for Trump, I guess thats my point. If Biden is the actual nominee Trump may actually be so popular he will outlast the cheating. Should be fun.

The vast bulk of the party is on Trump’s side of the “wedge,” and DeSantis’ supporters will most certainly be there on election day.

"Former President Donald Trump‘s penchant for punishing GOP detractors is trickling down to Congress as some of his most ardent supporters are using loyalty to the former president as a litmus test for the Republican Party."

The tell is in the lede, it isn't good news for you Ronlim, and yet you were plum TDS puckered into posting it.

Read the room, beagle, Cami Mondeaux is a chubby girl who enjoys her work but literally and metaphorically can't see her toes.

The article is not just weak clickbait, but the quotes she obtained operate 180 degrees to Trump's favor, or more to the point, TrumpII's favor.

It's an arrow over the bow to the Bob DoubleplusunGood's in the House who are going to either learn to serve TrumpII's 'honeymoon' with absolute fealty or get primaried in 2026.

TrumpII is so assured there are already competing TrumpII transition teams.

"To achieve this vision, a Reagan-era shibboleth has come back into fashion in conservative circles: Personnel is policy. Conservative organizations have become, as one administration alum put it, “laser-focused on the staffing challenge.” Most prominently, rival think tanks — the Heritage Foundation and the America First Policy Institute — are collecting names for potential political appointees, putting forward detailed plans to staff the next Trump administration quickly and efficiently. Both have raised millions for this effort."

You're just, well, you're just lame. And stupid too. (eyes rolled-up newspaper) *whap* Bad beagle! Bad! LOFL...

The glee with which you speak of true conservatives being expelled from Congress only shows the willingness of you to move the party as far to the left as Trump wants.

And this America First Policy Institute you mentioned that supports Trump is hardly a conservative organization. It was just formed a couple of years ago, when they proudly announced Ivanka Trump (official WEF Young Globalist Leader) and her husband Jared Kushner as key advisors LOL!

“There are only extremes in an only-Trumper’s mind, and that’s all too close to how leftists and cultists think.”

Wow. Harsh.

Didn’t the RNC stooges try the “Trump voters are brainless zombie cultists” line before?

I don’t remember that working out too well.

I’m not sure that Conservatism Inc., the loyal lickspittles of the GOP donor class, will have any better luck convincing Trump voters that they are idiots this time.

But who knows... maybe you’ll get your wish and there will be a giant groundswell of support for Nimarata Haley or one of the other approved puppets of D.C. Establishment. Good luck!

Or that your Sea Island GOPe RINOs failed to put their 2024 version of ¡Yeb! over on conservatives. Well, except for you, donkey.

Same group your motard will be begging for a jerb in 3,2,1..."Hey, ya'll were good enough to throw me over the finisher line against a meth-addicted homo, I needs the same helps again, I couldn't get a nickle PAC to run against Rubio, can I shine your shoes?"

LOFL.
