They got clipped in the back quarter. It almost looked survivable depending on what happened to the car after the collision. If it had been a direct hit, or if the edge of the plow blade had hit any farther forward the driver probably would have been dead instantly.

That’s two reasons why they do it.
And slamming into plows seems to be getting more common.
Listened to the scanner awhile back to an exchange between “Plow 1” and “Plow 2” where some idiot passed Plow 2 flying on County Route 22 here in Orange county ny, Plow 2 starts yelling for Plow 1 to lookout for an idiot as “he’s headed your way.”
Plow 1 goes “You mean this guy” and you heard a thud.
The speeder met Plow 1 head on near Mills urg road on a curve.

Next couple of things were people rear ending plows because they just didn’t pay attention to how much faster than the plow they were going.

I passed some plows once going over a mountain pass just because they were going kinda slow. they tried to block my passing but failed.

It then sucked cause the road was so much worse unplowed. Won’t do that again.

I’m in Alaska and see this all the time. We have snow covering ice covering snow covering ice...You get the picture. People fly by me with what seems like summer tires. It’s crazy. I use them to indicate if the road is truly icy and dangerous :)

Too many people are really that dumb. Otherwise, why would highways have posted signs saying don’t pass snowplows on the right? It’s kind of like saying don’t eat yellow snow.
