Ice causing flooding concerns

The frigid temperatures in Illinois are causing flooding concerns. Chunks of ice have built up along the Kankakee River near Wilmington, causing the water to rise in some areas.

A flood warning was issued for the area for the remainder of the week. Flood waters have surrounded homes as river waters continue to flow beneath the ice. Temperatures are not expected to get back to normal until next week.

Freezing temperatures cause EV problems

The cold snap in Illinois is causing headaches for those who drive electric vehicles. Long lines could be seen at EV charging stations around the state since the temperatures tumbled over the weekend.

20-30%?

My EV can lose HALF of its range in subzero temps.

But since I charge at home and only use it as a commuter car that’s not a problem.

IMHO very few people who can’t charge at home should have an EV as their second (or third, or fourth) vehicle.

I was listening to KFI radio here in Los Angeles area and they had a report of one guy who spent a total of 11 hours trying to charge his electric car at a Tesla charger. He had it towed at the end to his home.
