Sopranos creator David Chase is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his iconic show’s premier and lamenting the death of television’s exquisite Golden Age.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, the 78-year-old who changed television, but sadly not forever, said, “Yes, this is the 25th anniversary, so of course it’s a celebration. But perhaps we shouldn’t look at it like that. Maybe we should look at it like a funeral.”

In an interview, Chase later said that Carmela never remarried, Meadow became neither a doctor nor a lawyer, and AJ went to Los Angeles to produce pornographic movies for the Brooklyn crime family as restitution for what they did to his father.

We’ve binge-watched Doc Martin a couple times, and liked it a lot.

We haven’t seen the series in maybe five years, but enjoyed it. Would watch again if it were released to watch free.

Prime is showing Northern Exposure again. It’s odd, but kind of fun.

We like Doc Martin, a “dramedy”. No blacks (except one girl briefly in the last season). No sex other than being alluded to.

Old series are good.
Scarecrow and Mrs. King
Miami Vice
Magnum (original)
Frasier

changed television

I thought Hill Street Blues was supposed to be the show that "changed television."

During it's original run, it wasn't until the episode of Northern Exposure where John Cullum sings that I realized that he was the South Carolina delegate Rutledge to the Continental Congress in the show and movie "1776" who sings "Molasses to Rum."

Interesting. I didn’t know that.

A lot of actors have surprised me that way. Some who were singers before they were actors.

Ken Curtis (Mom couldn’t believe it when I showed her a video of “Festus” singing)
Jim Nabors
Beverly D’Angelo
Katey Sagal

You need a VPN so you can tell the TV you are in LA or NY or wherever. I live in Costa Rica and use Express VPN for about 100 bucks a year. I’m watching the original Hawaii Five-0 on Paramount Plus right now. Steve McGarrett rocks but it’s taking forever to book Wo Fat
