Warming Climate And Cold Days Explained
Forbes ^ | January 14, 2024 | By Marshall Shepherd

Posted on 01/14/2024 10:30:54 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

The Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins played in brutally cold conditions Saturday night. The Buffalo Bills game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed until at least Monday due lake effect snow. I am writing this piece on a particulary chilly Sunday morning in Georgia. Scrolling through social media on cold or snowy days, it is common to see comments like, “well so much for global warming” or “Ha, I have 10 inches of climate change in my yard.” When I see such statements, a blaring science literacy siren with accompanying flashing lights comes to mind. I have written on this topic before, but another quick refresher on warming climate and cold days is always needed.

The “Captain Obvious” point to make is that we are in the midst of winter. We will always have winter even as our climate continues to warm.

The current cold snap associated with the aforemetioned NFL game and my current discomfort is associated with extremely cold air oozing into the United States.

While not settled science yet, there are studies which suggest that climate warming is causing more Polar Vortex disruptions and that jet streams are becoming more “wavy.”

The Fifth National Climate Assessment reports, “....Arctic air, while still cold in absolute terms, is warmer than it used to be four decades ago.” Record high temperature days outpace record cold days, and the number of extreme cold days is declining.

In summary, yes we have cold days, and yes climate warming is happening too. Bundle up today.

Except that the climate alarmists were claiming that places like Kansas City wouldn't have snow by 2020. These folks are like the Jehovah's Witnesses, when they pick a date and nothing happens, they just push it out into the future. (The JWs now back off from picking dates).

They are so smug. Usual common sense tells us that when it gets warm it feels warm. They have to bend pretzels to explain why we are freezing to death while the world is blazing. They have to keep explaining because we idiots with only common sense forget so easily that cold is actually caused by heat making polar winds more wavy. Heat causes cold. Hot heat causes freezing cold. The hotter it gets the colder it gets. Twenty years ago we were told that there would be no ice in the Arctic Ocean and no snow on Kilamanjaro and all the glaciers would be melted away. The experts will say they miscalculated and that the glaciers are actually melting and it’s just taking longer to get started but once it gets going watch out!

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I NEVER thought I would see such stupidity come from Forbes magazine. What a disappointment. And it explains our 'economy'.

Your quotation from Orwell’s “1984” is quite appropriate.

“The “Captain Obvious” point to make is that we are in the midst of winter. We will always have winter even as our climate continues to warm.”

Really? What happened to the predictions of no more snow, no glaciers on Mt Everest, no more ice in the north pole, etc, etc.

Even Bastardi notes the climate is warming a bit. He also says it is not due to man. Could be normal cycles, or undersea volcanos, or wobbling in its celestial journey. So if anyone thinks putting up windmills or solar panels makes a difference, ask them to support their theory with science. Seems to me we have windmills, solar, up the kazoo but I don’t notice any affect.

We’re still coming out of the last little ice age.

"While not settled science yet, there are studies which suggest..."

Not only is it not settled, it's not even science.

“ Seems to me we have windmills, solar, up the kazoo but I don’t notice any affect.”

China is building many coal plants every year.
The wind and solar things we are doing has zero benefit.

The brutal cold fall and winter of 1976-1977 were used as proof we were entering THE COMING ICE AGE!

Now brutal cold is “proof” of glo-BULL warming.

They also don’t have any sense of how to motivate people. Every once in a while you have to give praise. Tell people they are doing well and making significant progress. Good job people! But no, they say not enough, work harder, sacrifice more. If they want people to care give them some strokes! Attaboy!

Headline from the Associated Press a few days ago (but updated today with more propaganda):

Scientists explain why the record-shattering 2023 heat has them on edge. Warming may be worsening

The “Captain Obvious” point to make is that were in the midst of SUMMER...

Oh yeah, don't ask them about El Nino...

So this guy is hanging his hat on “unsettled science” to virtue signal his superiority on interpreting weather trends as “catastrophic” in an unopposed admission that the earth is a dynamic planet that is constantly evolving and whose weather is chiefly influenced by the sun.

Let’s face it. This is how they make their money...passing around dire predictions which are absolutely unproveable.
