Another example of a Democrat governor locking something down.
Times have changed.
I’m glad...cuz winds were supposed to be 25 mph...which would make it a handoff or short passing game....equivalent to a High School Freshman game.
Hochul is a Buffalo girl...Nevertheless....she does whatever Schumer tells her to do,.
I’m furious. I have a public meeting I have to run at 5:30 Monday. They had the option of moving the game to Cleveland, but wouldn’t do it. Dammit!
Why the hell is the governor making that decision? Shouldn’t it be a local decision? Politicians always say, never let a crisis go to waste.
Not in North Texas...lol. Even at that level, the offenses have pretty good passing games. For powers like Southlake, that extends down to 7th grade.
Anyone else PO’ed at the NFL for blacking out the Chiefs/Dolphins game? I hope this comes back to bite them in the butt.
Move the game to Rio. Wimps.
Oh yeah....I forget to say...”except in North Texas of course”
Bit of a difference between cold and enough snow for a travel ban. Can’t get the teams to the game, much less fans, with a travel ban.
Move the game to Green Bay.
Home team forfeits because they could not provide suitable game conditions for the networks.
Today is January 13. SB III, when the Jets beat the Colts, was played on January 12 of that year. This is not a weather thing; this is greed and money and gambling.
It’s not blacked out, it’s on a streaming service. Spend $4 and you can watch it, then spend the next month watching Columbo, which is the best thing on Peacock.
It might have looked better if the NFL had done this on their own, rather than letting the governess do it by decree. I think it was the right thing to do in this situation, though.
We pay billions of dollars in taxes to pay for the stadiums. Now they want to charge us just so we can watch a game on streaming?
Usually the NFL makes the announcement. But we are dealing with Hochul here.
No. Streaming is no different than cable. It’s TV you pay for. You need to subscribe to Amazon to watch the Thursday games. You need to subscribe to ESPN to watch the Monday games. And you need to subscribe to Peacock to watch the NBC’s “bonus” games. None of this is terribly complicated and no different than when they first put games on cable in 1987.
I bet the governor is making the announcement to try to take credit for the decision. But the decision was likely made by the league and the teams.
