The most feared day for coaches in the NFL is here: Black Monday.
Which coaches and coordinators will be fired now that the regular season is over?
The Falcons did not waste any time and fired Arthur Smith just after midnight, and Ron Rivera received the axe Monday morning.
Three coaches were canned during the season including Josh McDaniels of the Las Vegas Raiders, Frank Reich of the Carolina Panthers and Brandon Staley from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Who’s on the coaching hot seat today? There have been rumblings coming out of New England that legendary coach Bill Belichick’s future is up in the air.

I think Bill Belichick will only be replaced as General Manager.
All I’ll say is that Ron Rivera has had a lot of opportunities with all about the same results.
The Raiders and Bears are an interesting situation. A lot of teams on hold waiting to see what happens with Harbaugh- who is likely to go to the NFL
He did take the Panthers to the Super Bowl when Cam Newton was healthy.
All this talk of Belichick getting fired is nonsense. He signed a new deal several months ago.
Saints coach is probably gone after rebuffing the players for that last-second score against the Falcons when they were in victory formation.
Not really. He went from 1 poorly managed team that he made successful in spite of their lack of on field talent, to another poorly managed team that he didn’t. Just look at what’s happened in Carolina since they fired him, drastically worse. Hopefully a team that doesn’t suck picks him up. I think he’s a really good coach, but 90% of all NFL openings are with bad teams nobody can do anything with.
Wonder if the Falcons would bring back Dan Quinn, he will definitely get a head coaching gig this off-season.
Arthur Smith a victim of the Peter Principle, but he was a damn good offensive coördinator, and I hope the Titans invite him back.
I call it Musical Coaches Day....................
Do you think he will stay GM?
Good point, but since 1997 when he got into coaching he amassed a record of 102-103-2 (.498). That’s a pretty well established record. I have nothing against the guy, not even my team, but come on. If he were a stock no way I’d sink a long-term investment in that.
>Hopefully a team that doesn’t suck picks him up.<
A team that doesn’t suck doesn’t need a new coach..............😜
Yes. It’ll be business as usual.
Is Belichick only a very average coach without Brady? Didn’t exactly set the world on fire as the Browns’ coach and how is he doing post-Brady? In my opinion the most overrated major coach anywhere. And was he cheating during some of it? I guess the Cowboys will destroy my Packers at home, but will McCarthy be fired if they lose the NFC championship at the 49ers? Shouldn’t but I wonder. Should the Bears take the USC quarterback? Just don’t think Fields will ever be Lamar Jackson.
I predict the USC Quarterback will be one of the biggest busts in NFL history.
On one hand - I can’t imagine Belichick being “fired.” I imagine both sides want it to be as graceful an exit as possible.
But on the other hand, reports last summer were that he signed a “multi-year extension” with the team at $25 million/year.
If standard rules apply - Patriots will owe him a BIG sum of $$$ if he is fired, and I can’t imagine him, or anyone, leaving that amount of money on the table.
Hmmm... like I said, I got nothing against the guy just sayin’ look at a guy like Dan Campbell. Not totally apples to apples, but interesting comparison.
“All I’ll say is that Ron Rivera has had a lot of opportunities with all about the same results.”
He sure has had a lucrative career just being mediocre.
