Jan. 1 marked the deadline for Illinoisans to register their assault weapons with the state before the ban signed by Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker takes effect on Jan. 10.
= = =

So, if I was a gun owner, am I supposed to access the ‘news’ 24/7, to find out what they are after me for?

What if I am just eating and sleeping and doing my chores and maintenance?

Not tuning in to the various MSMs.

A little shopping and some trips to the gas station.

OH? What is the ass-ault weapon of which you speak?

You must mean a pitchfork, or the ‘roo bar’ on the front of my pickup truck.

It was tried in Ontario Canada, nobody complied and it cost the province 2 billion dollars. It was quietly dropped.

It’s a shame. They were all lost when the canoe capsized

I have read ISP is still accepting registration after Jan. 1 with no penalty.

Your honor, I bought mine for hunting, target practice and home defense, not for any assault whatsoever.

Who’s in my bed or what’s in my gun safe is none of any government’s business, your honor.

Just an aside: Gov Pritzker is a dangerous man and a great threat to our freedoms and liberty.

Handguns do way more of the killing than AR style platforms.

There is no confusion....

Just like in NY after the SAFE act...it’s outright refusal to comply.

Years later, no one has complied. So time passing does not improve the situation for the gun grabbers

Add let my FOID card expire years ago. I don’t need it because I lost my gun and a boating accident.

Took me a hour or so going over the registration website to see if I had to register my Ruger 10-22.
So when did a basic 22 rifle become an assault weapon after adding $70 worth of plastics.
Glad I kept it stock, otherwise it would have became a “Weapon of War “
Nothing like elected officials enacting laws about stuff they know nothing about.
Meanwhile here in good old land of Lincoln, crime is out of control.

Also, you cannot be charged with failing to register your “assault weapon” after the deadline because doing so would force you to admit to a crime and violate your Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination.

***and high capacity magazines***

Anyone remember the Edmond Oklahoma post office massacre in which the perp used TWO National Guard .45 ACP 45s. Both magazines held 7 shots. He killed 14.

The Illinois law is a joke. Anyone can walk across state lines and buy a 30 round magazine from about any farm supply or gun store for about $25.
