New Star Wars director says it's finally time for a woman to shape the movie franchise
Award-winning director and journalist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy said during a CNN interview that it was about time for a woman to shape the story of the Star Wars universe.

Instapundit cites all the women who have been shaping the Star Wars franchise going all the way back to Marcia Lucas, George’s then wife.
One big problem with going for “historic firsts” is that the beneficiaries forget that they really aren’t “historic firsts.”

I have gotten that impression from watching interviews, as well. Coincidentally, she’s an MMA fighter first, not an actress.
I’ve gotten similar impressions of others ... R. Lee Ermey, for example. Sure, if he was your DI he was probably a bastard (or at least the recruits thought so) but I got the impression that outside that context, he’d have been a great friend or neighbor.
I’m waiting for Barbie Wars.

The lesson should be to create a world that is consistent with your vision; don't steal someone else's creation and then twist it to your liking.
