A very basic primer oriented to people unfamiliar with the AR15 or guns in general.

I've never thought of my AR as a sporting rifle.

Hopefully SCOTUS will recognize that while the AR-15 looks a lot like the M-16 they have very little in common functionally. One is a basic semi automatic rifle that's functionally identical to hundreds of other semi automatic rifles and the other is,in fact,a weapon of war capable of full automatic firing.

The left's demands regarding the AR-15 boil down to "big scary gun".

My AK-47 feels rejected. Last century wooden stock and oversized 7.62 round is to heavy of ammo for the beta boys to carry around, you know, with the weight of a steel weapon and all. Thats ok tho, she knows I still love her and thats all that matters!

[[The Seventh Circuit has recently ruled AR-15 pattern rifles are not protected by the Second Amendment. ]]

Bull! There are no exemptions to the “arms” the second amendment speaks of!

Magazine capacity is far more important than auto vs semi. How many rounds can I fire before I have to reload?

I got my dad’s old M-1 Carbine (that somehow got “stuck” in his duffel bag coming back from Vietnam). Made by Winchester. Checked the serial number- it was made some time before September, 1942. Still has the old sights on it (doesn’t amount to windage). Still take it out to the range.

“The Seventh Circuit has recently ruled AR-15 pattern rifles are not protected by the Second Amendment.”

The Judicial Branch aka Legislative Branch aka Executive Branch has spoken again ... all fall down and obey.

The lawless ruling ignores the Heller and Bruen decisions.

And unless I'm mistaken it also ignores "Caetano v Massachusetts",a SCOTUS decision from a few years ago that I think is very powerful. The state's highest court upheld Caetano's conviction on a weapons charge stating that the weapon she was found to be in possession of was not protected by the 2nd Amendment.

SCOTUS took the case and ruled in Caetano's favor...9-0.In the decision's narrative the court characterized the state Supreme Court's logic in ruling that the weapon wasn't protected by 2A as "frivolous".

My Blue state all but banned the relatively meek AR, but is perfectly OK with my M1 Garand, a semi-auto firing the much larger 30-06 round in 8 rd clips that is an actual military combat rifle.

Go figure.

The lesson I’ve learned: do NOT teach leftists about guns.

They will only use your lesson to alter their drive to take them away.

They will never, ever, understand freedom and America’s founding principles.

Semi-auto rifles have been around since 1903. YES, 1903. Yet they only began to be used in mass killings after the mental hospitals were closed down in the 1970s when the patients were dumped on the streets.
And what the news media and TV shows made popular at the times is what criminals thought they had to use for their crimes. Remember the “evil” SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIALS! then the 5 shot bolt action Army Surplus Rifles!(they got a ban on them) then “COP KILLER BULLETS!” then UZIs and AK-47s! Then the AR-15!

The political plan is to try and make some type of gun ban “stick” then use that ban to build on to go after their real target of the 1960s, HANDGUNS!

Remember the attempted gun bans of the past...

Starting in 1962 with the demand of Dems Thomas J. Dodd and Emanuel Celler...
1962 We ONLY want to register handguns. Rifles will not be affected!
1964, We ONLY want to register ALL firearms, not ban them.

1968 We ONLY want to register all guns, and ban the import of foreign Saturday Night Specials, and 5-shot bolt action army surplus rifles! (they got the ban).

1970, We ONLY want to ban small American handguns. Rifles will not be affected!

In 1976, the founder of handgun Control Inc told in a New Yorker interview his goal was to make ownership of handguns “TOTALLY ILLEGAL”.

1976 We ONLY want to ban ALL handguns! Rifles will not be affected!

1981, Actress Lee Grant on Good Morning America screams and pokes holes in the air with her finger...”THE NRA IS A RIFLE ORGANIZATION! THEY SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR HANDGUNS AND THEY CAN KEEP THEIR RIFLES!”

1984, They came for the rifles.

Once they thought they had a “ban” on semi-auto rifles” they immediately started after the single shot .50 Cal rifles.

Gun owners know they are always up against a stacked deck.

****ARs do not fire a “high-powered” cartridge. The .223/5.56 NATO cartridge is intermediate power, useful in hunting animals the size of coyotes.***

The original .223 was listed as the.222 Remington Special varmint cartridge that fell between the.222 Remington and the .222 Remington Magnum. Far below then 30-06 and .308 Nato.
