A very basic primer oriented to people unfamiliar with the AR15 or guns in general.
I told her that I served in the Army during the Vietnam era and that I was at least somewhat familiar with the M-16 and the AR-15. I told her that the AR-15 would never be suited for the military while the M-16 most certainly was suited for that purpose.
I don't think I convinced her. My guess is that she clings to her "big scary gun" thinking.
Very good primer. IMO a .223/556 is a sorry round. I own an ar15 and a ranch rifle. I prefer my .308 ar10 and my 30.06 m1 and my 30-30 lever.
Don’t get me wrong they are fun.
I killed a few small pigs with them.
I even killed a large boar with a hipoint 995 9mm carbine.
Shot placement is key.
So is cartridge choice. Go with hollowpoint/fragnible.

Most people don’t know this but the beauty of the 5.56 X 45 cartridge. Is it doesn’t always kill. but it causes significant tissue damage. In a battle you leave the dead until it is quiet, but a wounded guy takes three or more people out of the battle. Simple logistics.
This doesn’t matter to Russsian soldiers as the officers don’t care about each soldier, but most other armies do.
I don’t own an AR platform, I’m a 30 Caliber guy.
I want something that penetrates body armor.
