The Russian navy was always weak. They had no way to protect themselves against modern threats in war. It has nothing to do with the current (failed) counteroffensive by Ukraine.
Once Ukraine sinks or destroys the whole fleet, there won’t be any excuse for Moscow to keep occupying Crimea anymore. And Putin’s War will have been for nothing.

Russia, by contrast, is surging the size of its army and is not a victim of a war of attrition. Russia is the causing the attrition.
