A tourist from Singapore fell to her death Friday while snapping photos with her husband on the edge of a cliff in a New York state park, authorities said.
Nur Aisyah Binte MD Akbar, 39, plunged 70 feet after slipping off the cliff while on a hiking trip with her husband in the Hudson Valley region, state police said.
The woman and her husband stopped to take photos at the edge of a cliff on the Beacon Hill Trail in Minnewaska State Park when she “lost her footing” and went over the side Friday afternoon, according to police.

There have been some well known “husband murders wife” cases similar to this.
I have seen this story a few times on ID channel.

To the contrary side, I have seen women in HIGH HEELS at the bottom of a hiking trail on Mount Monadnock in NH once. I wonder how far she got before she turned around. The pictures show a couple of "city" people. If you know what I mean.

I guess getting too close to the edge does happen, but this seems like a story I have heard more than a few times.
I think if it was a couple of friends or kids involved I would be more inclined to believe a tragic accident.
But a married couple arouses my suspicion meter. I, at least, would not accept the story at face value.
A very appropriate one at that.
Is her death tragic? Yes. Was it because of stupidity? Yes. Do I feel sorry for her? No, absolutely not.
I have to admit I’m chicken. The closest I’ll get to a long drop-off is the length of my body. If I trip and fall, there’s be no way I could go off the deep end.
I stay away further than that and approach at a flat angle. On tripping remember, an object in motion, stays in motion.
I would think a decent spouse wouldn’t want the other so close to edge or unstable footing just for a picture! Though many people and couples are so self focused instead of other focused these days.
I don’t even like watching that current commercial where they’re backing up that vehicle to the edge of the cliff! No way I’m standing at the edge for a photo!
I hope she was snapping pics during the descent...especially if she was facing the earth as it rose to meet her.
