5 FBI controversies of 2023 that shook faith in agency
Fox News ^ | 12/29/23 | Brandon Drey

The FBI struggled to maintain its public image this year after new information appeared to contradict past investigations and a band of former federal agents blew the whistle about the bureau's alleged abuse of American civil liberties.

"From the interactions I have, it seems like conservatives either consider the FBI the butt of a cruel joke or an outright threat to American civil liberties," federal whistleblower and former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin told Fox News Digital. "Compared with how that looked three years ago, it feels like a complete nosedive in public confidence."

The bureau became further embroiled in controversy over the last 12 months when Seraphin and other whistleblowers uncovered a number of faulty investigations carried out by different FBI field offices across the United States. With the secret investigations exposed to the public eye, Seraphin said retired agents are "embarrassed" to reveal they once worked for the federal agency.

"That is a sea change," he said.

"Over the last year, the 38,000 men and women of the FBI have worked tirelessly to protect the American people from a wide variety of criminal threats and foreign adversaries," a spokesperson with the FBI told Fox News Digital. "The FBI and our partners made more than 20,000 arrests, which included violent criminals, human traffickers, and child predators, and located more than 2,400 children. We disrupted over 40% more cyber operations and arrested over 60% more cybercriminals than the year before."

From allegedly targeting American Catholics as so-called potential domestic terrorists to the acquittal of a pro-life activist whose home had been raided by dozens of FBI agents, here are five low points in 2023 for the bureau.

Former counterintelligence FBI special agent Charles McGonigal — who led New York's counterintelligence division and played a critical role in the alleged Trump-Russia collusion investigation — was earlier this month sentenced to four years in prison for charges related to colluding with a Russian oligarch.

Ran Trump through the ringer with a hoax yet look the other way with Brandon's chicom bribes. Yeah, that's a problem. And Hussein knew the whole time. Weird.

James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Wray, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Paige. That cross section is enough to tell me the entire organization is corrupt from top to bottom and the agency should be DISBANDED. They, with the DOJ are nothing but Biden’s personal Gestapo.

I wouldn’t even stoop so low as to call them once-great. They are a band of gangsters created by gangsters to solve a gangster problem we had. They still employ gangsters; only now they’re used against law-abiding citizens.

I’m curious about the fate of those who criticize law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Abolish the FIB. It has become nothing more than the STASI of the Democrat Party.

By the way....they didn’t even mention the BS investigation attempting to frame General Flynn....the lying to the FISA Court and inventing evidence by altering official documents in furtherance of the BS investigation into General Flynn.

Also not mentioned was the attempt to frame a dozen guys for “attempted kidnapping” of Gestapo Gretchen in Michigan. Despite a massively biased judge who excluded all kinds of exculpatory evidence, the defendants were all acquitted in their trials. Meanwhile the wife beating agent who masterminded the whole scheme to boost a Democrat governor before an election was promoted by the FIB to the Washington DC office.

Also not mentioned was the FIB raiding James O’ Keefe and Project Veritas for the diary that Joe Biden’s daughter abandoned at her drug rehab address. Said diary was mailed to Project Veritas which did not even publish anything in it - such as allegations that “Pedo Pete” aka Joe Biden showered naked with his daughter well past the age when anybody would have considered that OK - because Project Veritas could not confirm the allegations. Project Veritas then mailed the diary to the FIB a year before the FIB raided them supposedly to recover it.....even though it was not stolen and even though they already had it.

The list goes on, but there are 3 more examples of the hopeless political corruption of the FIB.

"We will continue to protect the Constitutional rights of all Americans, follow the facts wherever they lead, and speak through our work."

I am trying really hard not to laugh.

But failing miserably

The FBI was corrupt from the beginning.

JE Hoover was a corrupt closet queen and ran the FBI for his own purposes.

It has been corrupt ever since.

No mention of FBI involvement in the female Olympic gymnasts case against scum Larry Nassar? The FBI buried the case. That has to be the biggest story. At least to the parents of those young girls.

I’d say someone is trying to manufacture some conservative credibility for the Fox Division of the Deep State propaganda organs. YMMV

Chris Wray protested in a hearing in Congress that recruitment to the FBI is very high even in republican states, so FBI image is just fine. All is good - just move along.

Wray also mentioned that he is a republican and appointed by a republican president, so he is not doing anything wrong.
