The steamship George Washington, Capt. GAWKH, and Mississippi Capt. TALBOT, arrived here yesterday morning, bringing advices from New-Orleans to the 19th inst. The Mississippi brings a number of rebel prisoners, among whom are Maj.-Gen. FRANK GARDNER, commander of Fort Hudson, and the following officers: Aid-de-Camp Alex. Dupree, Col. J.A. Jaquess, Lieut.-Col. M.I. Smith, all of Port Hudson; Capt. J.J. Slocum, Ninth Louisiana cavalry; Capt. Matcemp, Ninth Louisiana cavalry; Capt. J.C. Patterson, Twenty-third Arkansas; H.L.W. Johnson, Fourteenth Arkansas; Lieut. W.B. Burnett, Twelfth Arkansas; J.W. Geer, Tenth Arkansas; J.K. Milan, Seventeenth Arkansas.
The George Washington brought $100,000 in gold.

NEW-ORLEANS, Friday, Dec. 18.
At a late Convention here of Free State men, called for the purpose of choosing unconditional Union men to the Convention of the Union men of the Slave States, to be held at Louisville, Ky., a delegation of colored men were admitted to seats in the Convention, and the Convention was opened with prayer by a colored minister.
Hon. Mr. DURANT presided.
An adjourned meeting of the Convention will be held on the 21st inst., at which an effort will be made to have the Convention held in New-Orleans.
The navigation of the Mississippi River is less interrupted. The gunboats are keeping a sharp lookout. A party from the Twenty-ninth Illinois regiment scouted as far as Trinity on the Black River and captured 39 prisoners.
