24 Dec: Finally! FIRST F-16 SQUADRON ALREADY TERRORIZING RUSSIAN AVIATION | War in Ukraine Explained
Reporting from Ukraine
454K
I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the six-hundred-seventieth day of the war.
Day 669: Dec 24
Today, the biggest news comes from the south.
After Ukrainian forces had conducted a successful aerial ambush on the Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers and multiple Russian military bloggers had confirmed the deaths of their comrades, there was palpable suspense on the front line, and everyone waited for the reaction of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense finally published a report, and interestingly, instead of confirming the loss of 3 jets in the south, they claimed that they shot down 4 Ukrainian jets in the south.
Ukrainian fighters operating in Krynky reported that not a single bomb had been dropped on their positions since the reported interception of the Russian jets. Russian sources also did not publish any new videos of the strikes, further confirming that the ambush did happen and the Russian Ministry of Defense is trying to conduct the usual retribution information operation.
Moreover, some of the most prominent Russian sources reported that Ukrainians have already received a squadron of F-16 fighter jets and dispersed them throughout the airfields in western Ukraine. And this is not unlikely because even the Institute for the Study of War noted that based on the recent Estonian Ministry of Defense strategy document, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Belgium had to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine before the end of this year. This gave rise to even more speculation about the recent ambush and why Russian aviation has been really quiet.
The lack of airstrikes alleviated the pressure on the Ukrainian bridgehead on the eastern bank of the river and allowed Ukrainians to increase the pace of their offensives. And such a relief came in handy because, over the previous days, Russian forces had conducted a series of powerful attacks. The main Russian attack was directed towards the central part of the village, where Russians tried to split Ukrainian forces and attack them from multiple sides. A Ukrainian fighter reported that the Ukrainians repelled the supporting flank attacks, however, Russians in the center continued to push and even established their positions. The clashes did not cease, and Ukrainians tried to prevent Russians from expanding their foothold. According to a Ukrainian marine, eventually, they cut off the Russian group from the mainland and forced them to hide from constant fire inside the houses. Once Russians entered them, Ukrainian M777 artillery crews made sure to level these houses with the ground. Russians reportedly sent a rescue unit with 2 armored fighting vehicles and 20 soldiers to distract Ukrainians and give Russians a chance to escape the trap, but it was too late, and Ukrainians destroyed the rescue unit as well. The fight ended around the time the Russian jets were shot down, allowing Ukrainians to reconsolidate control over the central part of the settlement.
Ukrainian reconnaissance drone operators reported that Russians tried to conduct reconnaissance in the forest at night. Ukrainian forces recently strengthened their electronic warfare system even more, and, according to Madiar, just over the last day, Ukrainians intercepted 35 Russian drones. It seems like some Russian units ran out of drones, which is why their commanders forced them to conduct reconnaissance by foot. Unfortunately for Russians, the area was surveilled with mine-dropping drones.
But the main job of Ukrainian drone operators is to destroy as much Russian equipment as possible. The commander of the Madiar’s Birds Drone Detachment posted a video showing how his unit destroyed around 15 more pieces of equipment over the last 2 days. A third of them were armored fighting vehicles, another third were trucks, and the remaining were various cars. The basic tactic used is the following. Ukrainians are identifying the roads and especially intersections that Russians use the most, then distantly mine these areas with drones at night and in the morning go around and finish the immobilized vehicles. The tactic is extremely effective because Russians do not have enough time to organize evacuations.

Get in touch with those who are in the Defense Forces now and thank them
Address by the President of Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Official website
25 December 2023 - 19:55
I wish you health, fellow Ukrainians!
Once again, I extend my Christmas greetings to everyone! And right now, on this Christmas evening, it is important to speak about many of our people who are on duty, at combat posts, in battle, defending our state and people at any time of day or night, on holidays and ordinary days.
Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, our warriors shot down nearly 30 “Shahed” drones, several missiles and two more Russian military aircraft. All in one evening! In total, five “Su” aircraft were shot down in the week before Christmas. And this is really impressive! Well done to everyone delivering such results in the ranks of our Air Force, all our anti-aircraft gunners, warriors of mobile firing groups, and air defense units of the Ground Forces! Thank you! Every Russian pilot must make a clear choice whether to continue participating in this war. Our air defense will become increasingly powerful. Especially when we receive additional systems that have already been agreed upon, including F-16s.
Today, I want to thank everyone in the entire large team of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – everyone who is still, as always, eliminating the consequences of Russian shelling these days, evenings, and nights. Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, our Sumy region, our Zaporizhzhia, our other regions. I would like to particularly mention the guys from Kherson region – Sergeant Oleh Pankratov and Master Sergeant Maksym Sedin. And from Donetsk region – Sergeant Oleksandr Pavlenko, Chief Master Sergeant Denys Shysholyk and civilian employee of the State Emergency Service Volodymyr Yatsenko. Next, Kharkiv region – Sergeant Roman Pyvovarov and Master Sergeant Pavlo Kryvulia. Sumy region – Sergeants Oleksandr Kozyr and Yevhenii Bondarenko, who are working in the border areas, displaying absolute selflessness. I am thankful to you guys and all your colleagues!
Similarly, I would like to express my gratitude today to the entire staff of the National Police of Ukraine – those working for the safety of people, in particular in the frontline areas. I would like to particularly mention Police Senior Lieutenants Ivan Zeleniak and Dmytro Teteria, serving in Kherson region, in the city of Beryslav. Also, Andriy Bulavin, a combat medic, working in Donetsk region. Zaporizhzhia region – Police Majors Andriy Melnyk and Vadym Aksionenko. I thank you and all those who serve our country and our society!
And, of course, today it is only right to thank every employee of the Ukrainian energy sector. All those who are at work right now. All those who have been working all year long to prevent blackouts and ensure that everywhere in Ukraine there is communication, electricity, heating, and all the things without which normal life is simply impossible. I thank you, our power engineers! Thank you for the bright Christmas!
And please, if you haven’t done so yet, get in touch with your loved ones or those you just know who are in the Defense Forces now and thank them. Strength gives Ukraine life. The strength of everyone who fights for Ukraine. The strength of all who work for Ukraine. The strength of our people. Let’s strengthen Ukraine together!

Footage from the port of Feodosia in occupied Crimea shows a huge explosion overnight. Russia confirms the ship was damaged and says one person was killed. Moscow also says air defense systems destroyed the Ukrainian fighter jets that targeted the ship. Several buildings in the area suffered damage, believed to have been caused by a blast wave from the explosion. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the country’s air force on the Telegram social media site on Tuesday for the overnight attack on Feodosia in occupied Crimea that Ukrainian officials believe destroyed a Russian landing craft.
“I am grateful to our Air Force for the impressive replenishment of the Russian underwater Black Sea fleet with another vessel. The occupiers will not have a single peaceful place in Ukraine,” he wrote, implying the ship had been sunk. So far, Russian officials have only acknowledged the vessel taking damage. But unverified images purporting to show the overnight airstrike showed a large explosion at the scene which Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday they believed to be a munitions explosion on board.
“We can see how powerful the explosion was, what the detonation was like. After that, it’s very hard for a ship to survive, because this was not a rocket, this is the detonation of munitions,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told Radio Free Europe.
How many times does Ukraine have to win the war before they win the war?
This is so unfair.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed the large landing ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, Novocherkassk. The hostilities in Mariinka continue, and claims about the full capture of the city are untrue. The first group of Ukrainian pilots has completed the basic training program in the UK and started training on F-16 fighter jets in Denmark
For anyone interested in the reality of how this war is going for Russia, this site has listing by date of Russian equipment destroyed.
What one can do is a date search and count how many tanks or IFVs destroyed compared to the same period last year.
And what you will see is that Russian vehicle losses are substantially less than last year, even though we are told of massive defeats and casualties in the current offensive.

Ukraine received USD 1.34 billion as the Sixth Additional Financing under the World Bank’s Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine (PEACE) project.
The financing consists of a USD 1.086 billion loan from the World Bank, which was provided through the Advancing Needed Credit Enhancement for Ukraine (ADVANCE Ukraine) Trust Fund under the guarantee of the Government of Japan. The sixth additional financing of PEACE in Ukraine also includes a grant component:
• USD 190 million from Norway through the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction, and Reform Trust Fund (URTF);
• USD 50 million from the Government of the United States of America;
• USD 20 million from the Government of Switzerland.
The funds will be used to partially compensate for non-security and defence-related expenditures of the Ukrainian State Budget, including old-age social payments and payments to employees of the State Emergency Service (SES).
“International financial assistance is a significant contribution to maintaining Ukraine’s financial and economic stability and allows us to provide priority social expenditures during the war. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the governments of Japan, the United States, Norway and Switzerland have repeatedly demonstrated their unwavering support and solidarity for Ukraine. I am grateful to our partners for their willingness to cooperate and help us at a crucial time for Ukraine,” said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 4 Russian Su-34 aircraft and 1 Su-30 aircraft. The Su-34 aircraft is one of the most modern fighter-bombers in Russia. Ukraine celebrates Christmas together with the whole world. All talks about negotiations and truce on the Russian side are disinformation, the purpose of which is to slow down military assistance to Ukraine.
What galls me is that you soulless, ignorant war enthusiasts have gotten so many Russians and Ukrainians maimed and killed.

Olena Zelenska: Ukrainian language and culture are important today for everyone who cares about freedom

https://www.president.gov.ua/en/news/olena-zelenska-ukrayinska-mova-ta-kultura-sogodni-vazhlivi-d-87989
The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, summarized the results of her cultural diplomacy projects on introducing Ukrainian audio guides in world landmarks and opening Ukrainian bookshelves in libraries around the world.
In 2023, 20 Ukrainian-language audio guides were launched in 15 countries, including:
The Netherlands – the Maurits Cornelis Escher Museum in the Lange Voorhout Palace, the museum of collector and patron Abraham Bredius and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam;
Albania – the National Museum of Medieval Art; Ireland – the Library of Trinity College; Denmark – the Hop On Hop Off bus and boat tour of Copenhagen; Poland – the Warsaw Rising Museum and the House of Nicolaus Copernicus at the District Museum in Toruń; Italy – the Borghese Gallery in Rome and the Royal Museums of Turin; Sweden – the Nordic Museum – Museum of Ethnography and Culture and the Viking Museum in Stockholm;
Finland – the Suomenlinna Fortress Island and the Helsinki Historic Center boat tour; Israel – the Yad Vashem Holocaust Remembrance Center; Australia – the National Museum of Australia; Azerbaijan – the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art; Cyprus – the Archaeological Museum; the United States – the Illinois Holocaust Museum; Austria – the Imperial Treasury; Greece – the Benaki Museum in Athens.
As of December 2023, since its inception in 2021, the project to introduce Ukrainian-language audio guides, initiated by Olena Zelenska, has 77 audio tours in Ukrainian across 43 countries. These countries are Türkiye, France, Denmark, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Sweden, Uzbekistan, Austria, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Kenya, Rwanda, Germany, the United Kingdom, Greece, North Macedonia, Spain, the United States, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Montenegro, Italy, Lithuania, Georgia, Portugal, Thailand, Hungary, Switzerland, Brazil, Slovakia, Norway, Qatar, Estonia, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Albania, Ireland, Poland, Israel, Finland, Australia, Cyprus.
In addition, as part of the project, in November 2023, in cooperation with the Petra Development Tourism Regional Authority of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ukrainian-language brochures were created for visitors to the Kingdom’s most famous historical site, Petra. The brochures were solemnly presented at the Petra Archaeological Park Visitor Center by Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Myroslava Shcherbatiuk and Chief Commissioner at Petra Development Tourism Regional Authority Dr. Fares Braizat. Since 1985, Petra has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On July 7, 2007, it was declared one of the seven new wonders of the world.
“Many thanks to our embassies and all foreign partners. This is necessary not only for the millions of Ukrainian displaced persons driven out of the country by the Russian war, but also for everyone who values freedom and a free culture. Ukrainian today is the language of resistance to aggression and the fight for identity, for life and the right to exist,” Olena Zelenska emphasized.
The First Lady’s Ukrainian Bookshelf project also expanded significantly in 2023. Last year, Ukrainian bookshelves were opened in 10 countries: Spain, Armenia, the United Kingdom, Serbia, the United States, Romania, Singapore, Denmark, Mexico, Argentina, and for the first time, at the headquarters of an international organization: Ukrainian literature appeared at UNESCO.
In the last month alone, bookshelves have been opened in the Ricardo Güiraldes Central Library of Buenos Aires in Argentina and in three towns in Denmark: Ikast, Gentofte and Skive.
As of the end of 2023, the Ukrainian Bookshelf project under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine has been implemented in 45 countries and one international organization (more than 190 shelves, more than 47 thousand books): Austria, Türkiye, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden, Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Latvia, Finland, Jordan, Croatia, Lebanon, Japan, Belgium, Albania, Republic of Korea, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Moldova, Qatar, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Portugal, South Africa, Cyprus, UAE, Namibia, North Macedonia, Hungary, Indonesia, Armenia, United Kingdom, Serbia, USA, Romania, Singapore, Mexico, Denmark, Argentina, and UNESCO Headquarters.
“While the empire seeks to destroy not only Ukraine, but also Ukrainian culture, we are doing our best to spread this culture. This is yet another form of our resistance – a cultural, value-based one. Through the books and scholarly works, not just through the news, the world will learn how much Ukraine has given it and understand us better. As its integral part, without which, like without others, the world is unthinkable,” Olena Zelenska summarized.
“gotten so many Russians and Ukrainians maimed and killed”

Ukraine successfully shot down three Russian su-34 aircraft in the Kherson region, ending Russia’s use of aviation against Ukrainian forces trying to cross the river. The Biden administration is now getting serious about pursing the legal route to confiscating frozen Russian money and giving it to Ukraine to help fight the war.
