Their stores even look in better shape than ours anymore, and stocked quite nicely. That’s embarrassing to be quite honest.

What a funny narration. She sounds like a Russian visitor to an American supermarket in the 60s or 70s. Such a combination of breathless amazement and pride in Russia. No hint of dismay at all their young men getting killed in Ukraine.
But their display of salmon is amazing! I'd love to see such an assortment of salmon for sale here. All we get is the very mediocre Atlantic salmon and occasionally wild Pacific salmon at unbelievably high prices. Link to Salmon Section.

It’s one store. Makes one wonder if all stores are similar.

The prices paid at the store have zero relations to the actual cost of fish. The amount extorted by the states, the producer, the transporting the catch from the fishingboat offloading to the the grocer’s wholesaler is amazing. Grolier might also vary markup by 150% to control volume so that limited supply goes at a high price.

Please remember that this is Russia. Moscow will always get first priority on all goods. The real test is what is available many miles away from Moscow.

Yes, ‘Raki’ are (plural) Crayfish (as we call them here in the Northeast US). Incidentally, the work for ‘cancer’ in the context of the Zodiac is also ‘Rak’, as is the word ‘cancer’ in the context of the disease.

Yeah… but they don’t have nearly the excitement we have when seeing shoplifters running in and out of the stores.

Those are not Russian eggs. They are from Azerbaijan, which has just increased its export of eggs to Russia.

Those are not Russian eggs. Half the produce in our local supermarkets comes from south america...
I guess you are pointing out how well Russian trade is going these days.

    No.
The OP — a well-known FR Russian propagandist — naturally left out the fact the eggs were not Russian, but were from Azerbaijan.

You were pointing out the effective leadership of Putin, quickly resolving a shortage through free trade. Agree.
