Javier Milei’s new government has kept his outrageously optimistic promises. Within days of taking office, he basically dismantled Peronism, the socialist-fascist system crippling the nation since the end of World War II.
He did it by decree: He declared an economic state of emergency lasting for two years, and by virtue of the state of emergency, stopped government control of the economy across the board. You can read it here in the original: It’s a massive, detailed document.
For example: Hyperinflation is a big problem in Argentina, because the government just printed the money needed to pay for its desires. Now, people can set contracts in any currency they want. That means instant dollarization for those who want it.
The government is stopping its micro-management of wine, grain, and meat. Now farmers will be able to buy and sell as they please, not as the bureaucrats give permission. Meat prices have already dropped.
The government owns or controls many industries, such as the oil industry, which has been forced to sell gasoline below its cost. Gas prices have already risen, and when customers were asked about the higher prices, some responded “its the price of freedom” Privatization of nationalized industries will begin.
Because there will be economic dislocation from these massive changes, social security welfare payments have increased to soften the economic blows to the vulnerable.
For example, because of the government’s intervention in so much of the economy, many things are “Hecho en Argentina.” Many factories have had a protected market and do not compete with foreign goods. Without doubt, there will be a big negative impact to local industry. How Argentina threads this needle will be very instructive.

I am sure Milei saw what happened in the USA under Trump, though some of his measures are not like Trump at all. More libertarian...will that work?
“How Argentina threads this needle will be instructive” is a red cape to the marxist left! you just KNOW the leftist rabblerousers in argentina” AND around the world, will take up resistance to Argentina being free from leftist control. how the Free People of Argentina deal with the militant leftist groups will be FAR more “instructive” to these United States of America than how the”government” of Argentina deals with the mental and emotional sickness of the marxist leftists. at some point these people need to be told NO! and made to understand in No uncertain terms what NO! means. buck up Mr. and Mrs America...the Marxist left only understands things spoken in THEIR language. time to speak their language.

Reminds me of just the opposite in the 1930s when FDR had millions of head of cattle and hogs bought up, shot and buried to get the price UP! They also had farmers fill out forms for regular crops to make sure there was not too much on the market.
Meanwhile starving people back then were still starving because of no jobs to even buy food which was very cheap.
Yep, it was a very bad deal for struggling farmers who had to kill baby pigs.
It is interesting that the government will now allow for contracts to be denominated in Bitcoin.
Not something I would reccomend at this stage…but it is interesting.
I doubt you’re going to see people buying stuff with bitcoin, anymore than they would use gold.
People hoard them.
If there is a Central Bank Digital Currency then I expect Bitcoin to be outlawed. Unfortunately.
How long do you think it will take before the MoneyChangers controlling the USA will attack Argentina and force a regime change?
Privatization allows for much corruption, fraud, and criminal mischief.
When the Soviet Union privatized in the 1990s, cronyism, favortism, and insider trading allowed a few oligarchs to snap up industries for much less than they were worth.
Argentina might segue from a society of ruled by bureaucrats to one ruled by oligarchs. The people lose either way.

You can have a good king or a bad king.
You can have a good republic or a bad republic.
They type of govt is not important, it is the leadership.
Lets see what happens. Don’t get distracted by shiny things.
There’s nowhere to go but up from Peronism. Whatever Milei can cook up will be an improvement.
Marking.

The story is still being written including ours. It doesn’t have to end with losing. But it takes eternal vigilance.
Whatever happens, this action is a tremendous blow to the leftist consensus ascendant in much of South America.
The French revolution was for what they didn’t want. And after that there was another “didn’t want.”
Our Founding Fathers had a clear understanding of what they were fighting for.
IF I SHAKE YOU AWAKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND ASK WHAT YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR, AFTER YOU REACH FOR YOUR GUN, WHAT DO YOU TELL ME?
Milei needs to deny entrance into their country to Victoria Nuland and Samantha Power.
If they show up, trouble follows.
Argentina certainly has the size and location to lead the way.
Govt bureaucrats seldom understand or care about anything but their CAREERS.
