(Dec. 23, 2023) — Of course I cannot get into the heads of the people present, but my assumption is that many (if not most) in the January 6, 2021 crowd (and some in the Trump administration) hoped the presence of thousands of protestors would demonstrate to the House members that the voters were angry and believed the election was stolen, and that the Electoral College votes of several states with numerous election “irregularities” should not be counted but should be sent back to the states for reconsideration and auditing. But that would not be an “insurrection” in the sense of an overthrow of the government. It would merely be a crowd of protestors encouraging Congress to take an action that was within the guidelines of the U.S. Constitution. The protestors were certainly not planning to take power and grab the reins of the U.S. government. None were declaring themselves to be members of the House or Senate, or President and Vice President. They were expressing their displeasure and anger, a right that is recognized and protected by the First Amendment.
One could argue that the demonstrations on January 6 (an effort to affect the outcome of the proceedings) were little different than the demonstrations in front of the Supreme Court (an effort to affect its upcoming ruling in Dobbs, which eventually overturned Roe v. The “insurrection’ is what was done to the imprisoned...the government basically has overthrown every article of American law and created a precedent for political imprisonment

I had just moved to Florida with a friend who was building the first dragster that had a (rear? front? I don’t remember) for Big Daddy Don Garlitts, at his residence when at someone’s house that had a TV I saw the 82nd Airborne was moving into DC and I thought big violence was coming so I asked the people for a paper bag to hold my stuff in and I started hitch-hiking to DC.
What you wrote could not happen without command and control. If Trump had such an ability on that day, it would have been an insurrection. He was not at the head of a column, showing they way into the Capitol. He told people to lawfully and legally raise their voices in protest.
BINGO we know whos exempt from all guilt .
Yellow media approved
huh? the Commander and Chief doesn’t have command and control?
sorry bro. no flyiee with me.
The execution of the unarmed lady veteran at the hands of a panic stricken Metro Police office should have been grounds for dismissal and prosecution.
Much of the lack of prior preparation for the demonstration and much of the “over-reaction” to the demonstration seems to have been planned, almost in advance to send a message to Trump supporter that “The Government” will crush you if you don't shut up and behave as we say you should behave.
