I remember a book from the 70’s called The Crowded Skies.
Diversity everywhere?
Cockpit, Maintenance, Control Towers...
Just days before the startling WSJ report, the FAA announced it was establishing a panel of experts — led by a former safety board official and sleep expert — to address air traffic controller fatigue after a series of near-miss incidents.
I see the “diversity hires” practice is starting to bear fruit...
They are short or controllers and they are trying to meet DEI goals instead of hiring best available.
Hmmm. What’s different since then?
Those were near hits not near misses.
I think I found the ATC audio of these incidents.

Several decades ago I was on a 757 for the first time going from CMH-DFW on the late flight. We were on Final and about 50’ AGL had just cleared the Threshold and suddenly it was Full Throttle, Nose and Gear up !!!
Within about 15 seconds the Captain was on the PA System apologizing for the sudden moves and saying “Sorry about that Folks but somebody else was on Our Runway so We’re going to make another lap around the Airport and make sure that We have Our Runway and this time it will be clear.”
The entire Cabin “replied” with the loudest cheers and applause that I had ever heard on any flight and I had been on a LOT of flights over the years since Dad worked for the Airline and We flew a bunch. Hundreds if not thousands of times and that was the only near miss I can remember.
Diversity and Obese ATPs?
Would have been much better if they were near hits...
Maybe the FAA needs to rethink its Diversity equity and inclusion policies.
Wondering...
Has Deep State changed the definition yet for what constitutes a near miss...?
