Beloved actor James McCaffrey, known for his role in the firefighter drama “Rescue Me” and as the voice of Max in the popular video game series “Max Payne,” passed away this week at the age of 65 after battling myeloma, a form of cancer.

While McCaffrey was best known for his work voicing Max in the popular video game series “Max Payne,” he also had a career in television. He had lead roles in “New York Undercover” and “Viper,” and supporting roles on shows such as “Swift Justice” and “As The World Turns.”

James has also appeared in films such as “The Truth About Cats & Dogs” and “American Splendor”, and has made guest appearances on popular shows like “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Sex and the City,” and “Jessica Jones”.

Rest in peace!

Wow, the word “iconic” sure seems to have been diluted. I’ve heard of a couple of the shows he was on.

Sorry to hear of yet another death likely hastened by the vax

That’s the first thought that came to mind too. Why are all these actors who die...”iconic”?

I clicked on the post in case there was a picture of the person, because sometimes you recognize the face but not the name.

That didn't work, so now I have to find an audio to see if I recognize the voice. But I am not in a hurry, because I have a low expectation of success.

So what exactly does "iconic" mean these days?

“ I’ve heard of a couple of the shows he was on.”

Me, too. Never heard of him, never saw him, never watched any of those shows. But I have heard of three of the shows. “Iconic,” indeed.

Yea, ever heard the term turbo cancer? Cancers are up dramatically and they are killing faster than normal. I just read that lung cancer normally takes 18 months or so to fully develop. It’s developing in weeks or months now. The only common denominator is the vax.

Admittedly this next one is a small example. Two friends had b=the same type of brain cancer. One was very proud of vax and boost, the other is pureblood. Both diagnosed around the same time. Care to guess which one is dead?

In today’s parlance, it simply means you are not a cool person if you don’t know who this dead person was..................... 😜

Can you use the words cool and iconic in the same sentence? This language thing is getting more and more complicateder.

Certain words are used in titles to color your opinion about the article’s subject, “right-wing,” for example. Others are just to increase clicks, like iconic. You’re supposed to recognize this guy and iconic is the clue word that you might know him and click. When titles are click-baity, like “and then this happened,” I just skip over them.

Iconic? I thought that maybe once I saw a picture of him I’d say, “Oh, him!” Nope.
We cut our cable 12 years ago and we rarely go to the movies, so I don’t recognize 95% of these “famous” actors.

Really. Clark Gable or Humphrey Bogart is iconic. This dude is a nobody. Bless his soul anyway.

Why are all these actors who die...”iconic”?

See:

iconic
adjective
UK /aɪˈkɒn.ɪk/ US /aɪˈkɑː.nɪk/
very famous or popular, especially being considered to represent particular opinions or a particular time
"Iconic" is an oxymoron used to qualify their meager $$ for writing drivel about a relatively unknown person.

That is all.

Never heard of this guy. I think the websites try to drum up clicks by using superlatives like “iconic.”
