Despite media frenzies, hefty advances paid to the celebs seemed to outweigh the publishers’ profits.

"Prince Harry may have received up to $20 million in advance, according to reports, but despite topping the charts, only sold 1.2 million hardcovers.
He would have had to sell double to have made back the advance.
Britney Spears’ 'The Woman in Me,' which gives dirt on her conservatorship and abortion while dating Justin Timberlake, was another flop but PR win. Spears reportedly refused to do press for the book and sold 1.1 million copies but got $15 million up front."

Both books seemed incredibly boring.
People have had enough of Celebrity tell-alls.

Not a South Park fan, but that was an extremely well-executed “kill shot”. On to the “Worldwide Privacy Tour”.

Egad, who’d pay for such trash?
Harry’s book had a free audio of it online so no need to purchase it.

What kind of a loser would shell out even $5 to buy a book written by one of these stunted misfits?

Funny they mentioned these two books. I was in a mall Sunday in a card shop type store with trinkets on tables etc. two books were on the table, these two.

I hear Barbara Striesand’s book is about 970 pages.
I find her to be an interesting celebrity, but not that interesting that I would whittle my way through 970 pages.
Barbara has been a well known commodity since the Petula Clark ‘Downtown” days. If she has something dramatically new or different to talk about, that would have been leaked by now in the reviews.

Back in the day when celebrities led somewhat private lives the promise of some salacious detail in a tell all memoir could draw some interest from the curious public.
Now all the “dirt” is in the open, most people already know more about these celebs than they actually care to know at this point.

Of all the Celeb Books currently out there, I would pick Dolly Parton's book over any others:

I remember doing a book report in school on “Man in Black”. The Johnny Cash story.
