New York Republicans chose Mazi Melesa Pilip to succeed George Santos in the US Congress.
In an unprecedented move, Congressional Republicans removed Santos from Congress after he was accused of a crime – Something Democrats would never think of doing.
Pilip will face former Rep. Tom Suozzi who is the Democrat Party’s candidate.
Mazi Pilip has been enrolled as Democrat since 2012 and served in the Israeli Defense Forces as an Ethiopian-born Jew who fled to Israel as a child.

The Stupid Party strikes again.
She’s a walk away.
The GOP needs to be shut down.
New York has been lost since the revolution. Highest number of King George supporters in all the colonies. Most of them would love to be ruled by a King to this day.
So will this be one of those D v. D races like CA has.
I had thought DE was even more Tory than NY.
You can say that, again.
The Conservative Party still has ballot access in NY. The Libertarians or Constitution Party could field a candidate as well, which could even be Santos. MAGA needs to choose well, because the GOP is actively sabotaging MAGA.
Fox... Hen house...
Stupid is as stupid does...
It doesn’t matter. The Democrats will redraw the districts in 2024.
The New York Republican State Committee has been horrible for years.
Registered yes, but she ran for and won a seat in the Nassau County legislature as a Republican. But FReepers prefer jumping to conclusions over spending a few minutes educating themselves, so go on ahead with the blathering.
The real problem is that she’s got an uphill battle against Suozzi, a RINO of McCainian proportions:
“There’s one unusual thing in her political history. Though Pilip has been a consistent voice for Republican issues and causes in recent years, Politico reported that she has been officially enrolled as a member of the Democratic Party since 2012, per Board of Elections records. (She did run on the Republican ballot line in both her 2021 and 2023 races.)
She will be facing a formidable candidate in Suozzi. The former three-term congressman has a reputation as a prolific fundraiser and is well known in the district. Suozzi declined to seek reelection in 2021 to challenge Kathy Hochul as she sought her first full term as governor. He came in third, and his congressional seat was won by Santos, whom Suozzi previously bested during a prior 2020 bid.
“People are sick and tired of the circus in Congress. Tom Suozzi has a proven record that he will work every day to try and bring common sense back to Washington by working across party lines, like he’s always done,” Suozzi campaign adviser Kim Devlin said in a statement.”
It may be the only way. Look at how NM Governor ran and won as a Republican-Susan Martinez. Fetterman is going wobbly-I’d fish in those troubled waters and recruit Conor Lamb after Pelosi treated him like a subject.
The NY GOPe should be rewarded then, seems to me then that they are pro-Xiden with open borders. Maybe 20,000 illegals (2.5 days worth) get sent there right away as a reward. Or just maybe keep it simpler say like 9,000 illegals each and every day.
I’ll wait to make up my mind about her. Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat. I was a Democrat when I was young and foolish.
I say give her a chance. See what she has to say about herself and the issues. She may be a good conservative at this point in her life. But she needs to register as a Republican.
Almost anyone the GOP runs will be a better alternative than Suozzi. If she is a fraud, that will come out.
I thought I read that the Republicans picked a “Nazi” but just one letter difference from “Mazi”
George Santos was a conservative voter with 100% rating from from Heritage Action.
And people wonder why there was no red wave in 2022.
The Republican party and all of their apologists are a joke.
