So Everything Went According to Plan

Posted on 12/15/2023 6:56:06 AM PST by cotton1706

So both the House and Senate INTENTIONALLY dithered this year, just to get to September 30th.

The goal being, to extend ALL government funding at current levels into the new year, with absolutely NO check by the people through their representatives on ANYTHING the government (that is, the Executive departments) is doing. Including section 702 of the FISA act. No changes whatsoever.

JUST before September 30th, a continuing resolution was needed, as it is EVERY YEAR, to "avoid a government shutdown".

And so we got one, which extended funding to mid-November.

And then in November, the plan was to extend the funding into either December or into the new year.

We had a change in House speakers between September 30th and the mid-November new deadline.

But lo and behold, we got a funding extension into the new year, at current levels, with absolutely NO changes to ANY policy in the Executive agencies, absolutely NO pressure put upon them, and whattaya know, section 702 of the FISA act was extended without ANY changes, with lots of playacting by committee chairmen and speakers.

So again, EVERYTHING went according to plan.

Change in majority. Change in Speaker. No change.

And we get to play the same game next year.

Excellent observation. This Mike Johnson seems to be a disappointment.

“Change in majority. Change in Speaker. No change.” ..... Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Don’t care if it’s an “R” or a “D” next to their names. They are all one big club, and we, the people, are not in it.

Things won’t change without there being consequences for misbehavior.

In American history the debt has only been zeroed out once. It was under Andrew Jackson during his fight with a centralized bank. Milton Friedman long ago predicted the only way we would ever get a balanced budget is with a Constitutional amendment forcing the issue. Of course Congress is never going to pass that so the only other way is a Convention of States.

Over the years enough states voted for such a Convention to call it but because some canceled the call it was not enough at the same time. It got very close at one point so Congress came up with the Graham Rudman act to head off the effort . Of course it was just a ploy but it did succeed at stopping the Convention effort.

America is now paying over a Trillion dollars on interest on the debt. The Socialists have run out of other people's money and historically that leads to hyper-inflation and ruin. Time to call that Convention for a Balanced Budget!

This Mike Johnson seems to be a disappointment.

Not surprising since he got bipartisan support like he was a spending bill.

It’s all theater to fool the rubes.

And we are the rubes.

“This Mike Johnson seems to be a disappointment.”

Though he walks into the valley of the shadow of death...

I saw a glimmer of hope in Johnson. He ramroded the cease to Ukraine funding, and what has turned into hamas aid, while sitting in front of the foreign leader of the Ukraine who was here on a begging mission, to force Biden to make a decision on making an effort to protect American citizens first by acting on the southern border. He’s got a thumbs up from me.

The big problem, as I see it, is that money is spent without consequence. We spend billions on wars, waste billions on windmills and support hundreds of thousands of illegals, but no one’s taxes go up as a result.

If next month’s payroll deduction went up just one percent, just a few bucks that folks could see, there would be a outcry and a demand for action. But instead, we put it on the endless credit card and nobody pays it.
