The odds may still be stacked against her in the Republican primary. But should former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley capture the nomination, a stunning new poll suggests the general election would be a cakewalk for her.
According to a new poll from the Wall Street Journal out Saturday, Haley — in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup with President Joe Biden — currently has a remarkable 17-point lead, 51-34. Should the matchup materialize and the margin hold, it would represent the largest winning general margin since 1984 — when former President Ronald Reagan topped Walter Mondale by 18 points.
Of course, in order for that matchup to happen, Haley would have to beat former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary — and the most recent polls still show her trailing in that contest by 40 points or more.

Fake poll.
Riiiiight. This is yet another attempt to try to convince squishy Republican voters that Trump can’t win, and that Nikki is the only real choice. She’s basically Mittens II.
Nikki is unknown to the majority of voters. Unknowns always poll well.
I love the poll
But I’m sure some freepers here will pick and choose the polls that they see as trump winning
Trump will not win the independents
A lot of people have moved on
NeXT November I’ll be here to rub it in to those freepers who blindly follow trump when he gets beat by an 82 year old senile vegetable
The easiest election to win for republicans since jimmy carter lost in 1980 will be given to Biden , because people are to stubborn to move on
I believe it. I know hard core Democrats who said they would vote for Haley.
What’s the point, if Nikki is going to govern like a Democrat, and you know she will.
This is indeed a shock poll. We have so many polls, some of them are bound to be outliers. I notice Trump beats Biden with and without third-party candidates, and that DeSantis is a break-even proposition.
I do believe the other party will replace Biden last minute. The guy’s a loser, a crook (which only a bad thing outside the Democratic Party), and way too old.
Were Trump to step aside, I don’t think he would be replaced by either DeSantis (too much bad blood with Trump and Trump’s supporters) or Haley (too moderate). Rather, I think somebody whose not been in the primaries would step forward. Think Mike Pompeo (who served Trump well during Trump’s presidency and who has remained neutral) or Texas Governor Greg Abbott (who recently endorsed Trump).
Open primaries and ranked choice voting are designed with that in mind.
LOL, of course she does.
Oh, yea. For a sure winner pick Nicky Haley. /s
You think so?
Even if it’s true, I see a little point in having Nikki Haley as a president. So I have no interest in it. Better to probably vote Democrat then endure the continuing Republican death of 1000 cuts.
So why are they pushing this bogus poll story now?
Straightup pro-Haley?
Straightup anti-Trump?
To get Trump to consider her for VP?
To get Trump to see Haley as his main threat, so he will focus on knocking Haley out of the race instead of DeSantis?
To goad Trump into participating in the Republican “debates”?
I still think desantis will win over Nikki
Desantis was sensational last 2 debates
He needs to bring that attitude going forward
I just wish he would have brought that same attitude in the first 3 debates. Dammit
I won’t vote for Nimrata. Period.
These numbers are impossible and it’s a phony poll.
Why am I not buying this?
Because you have a brain?
The media’s pushing Icky Nikki, of course.
No thanks.
“ As long as the right voters hate him.”
