By all accounts, McDonald’s is doing just fine. The fast food behemoth’s sales have been great, with price increases adding to its bottom line. But McDonald’s is also... McDonald’s. It’s just there. Aside from some collaborations with celebrities and the occasional introduction of a new sandwich or sauce, it mostly serves as the unchanging standard against which all other fast food is measured. But the company is launching a new concept, seemingly aimed at capturing a younger, and more mobile, market.
Enter CosMc’s. Although McDonald’s hasn’t officially announced anything, locals have spotted a location of the new “small format” (aka small-to-no dining room) chain getting ready to open in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Eater has reached out to McDonald’s for more information.
The new concept was first announced on the company’s earnings call in July, with CEO Chris Kempczinski saying it will have “all the DNA of McDonald’s but its own unique personality.” The chain is named after CosMc, an orange alien character introduced to the McDonaldland universe in 1987, who attempts to take a cheeseburger picnic back to his home planet before being convinced by Ronald McDonald that sharing is better. He would also go on to be a character in the videogame M.C. Kids, a very obvious Super Mario knockoff.

You can buy beef tallow on Amazon and have the old school McD fries that made them famous anytime.
The first time I used the tallow the memories of what a great French fry came flooding back. “I remember that taste!”
Before I retired I would occasionally stop on the way and get two Egg McMuffins. Eat one on the way and one when I got to work.
“ next step 100% automated and NO staff.”
Totally automated, made with stainless interior. When the alarm goes off for cleaning cycle you better run! The entire place could be washed down with an automated clean in place CIP system. Inside and out!!
When I retired in 2003, I worked 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., so didn't have the opportunity to get their breakfast sandwiches. I was elated when they decided to do breakfast all day, and then they used the scamdemic to get rid of it.
McDonald’s blows chunks.
Looks like they are returning to their 1958 model, walk-up order, no dining area, and 18 cent hamburgs.
I’ll be giving this place a try. Reasonably close to where I live and less than a mile from a pleasant trail for long walks.
i like McD’s but hubs does not.
