Well I consider myself a very late boomer, but the silent generation, is a forgotten generation.

They keep a low silhouette and prefer the “baby boomers” take the heat for everything being all screwed up in America these days.

Depression era babies.
The ones that survived have a good idea what to expect.
It’s always interesting to talk to one.

Well I consider myself a very late boomer, but the silent generation, is a forgotten generation. Not so sure of that, most of the big 1950s and 1960s rock stars were of the Silent Generation, Elvis, Rickey Nelson, Chuck Berry, Little Ricard, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds, etc.

The numbers are WRONG!
The smallest EVER generation is THE WAR BABIES, which they are lumped into the "SILENTS" in this article. And the end date is 1946!
And the "SILENT" used to be called "THE GREATEST", which is also a VERY recent renaming.

Or someone raised by parents who lived through the GREAT DEPRESSION, who didn’t raise their progeny using Dr.Spock’s ridiculous theories.

The “silent generation” used to be 1925-1945 but in recent years I see the numbers 1928 to 1945 a lot.
The GI generation which is about 1901 to 1925 (or 1928 sometimes) is being labelled by Tom Brokaw’s term “greatest generation” now.

The most important thing we need to know about the “silent generation” is they vote...
a lot...
especially after midnight...
especially in black precincts.

In fact one could say the “Silents” did not know how to shut up.

The whole naming of generations is actually very new and in many cases....STUPID!

That gibberish made zero sense.

Does that make sense now?

I can see certain professions and businesses needing some terms for work discussions and creating little micro-categories for their uses, but generally, it seems pretty stupid.
When people talk about Joe Biden and Donald Trump does their learning they are from two different generations on paper mean anything, no.

That does explain what you meant.
For what it is worth, the Silent Generation today votes conservative.

My father was born in 1927 and snuck into fight WWII, so he was definitely the “Great Generation” if not by date, then by accomplishment.

True, but some brave men sneak in to fight in every American war.

most of the big 1950s and 1960s rock stars were of the Silent Generation, Elvis, Rickey Nelson, Chuck Berry, Little Ricard, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds, etc. So why are they called the "Silent Generation"?
