College Football Playoff: Someone is going to be angry Five teams have legitimate cases. Only four teams will get a berth.

The Nightmare in Grapevine is upon us.

What is often a formality — making four obvious choices for the four-team College Football Playoff — is anything but for the committee this year.

The 13-member group, huddled in a hotel in Grapevine, Texas, will have to make the most consequential and controversial decision in its 10-year existence — and in the final season before the playoff expands to 12 teams. Their decision will be revealed at noon Sunday on ESPN.

Big Ten champion Michigan (13-0) and Pac-12 champion Washington (13-0) are assumed to be safely in. They’ll almost assuredly be the No. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively.

After that, there are three teams for two spots and there is no obvious answer.

Bama should have lost to an Auburn team that was manhandled at Jordan-Hare 31-10 by New Mexico State just one week prior.

Bama is OUT.

I suppose you could make a case for seven teams, to include Georgia and Ohio State, if the playoffs were expanded to eight teams. But then there would be an argument about who would be #8 (probably Oregon).

This is the first time that I see the need for more than 4 teams. Next year, they're expanding to 12, which is too many in my opinion, but not as bad as FCS, which has 24 teams! Way too many.

I don't know how the 12-bracket will work out. Maybe 9-10-11-12 play to see who gets in the round of 8? I don't know.

Betting Georgia gets dropped.

They should be. 'Bama whooped their asses yesterday. Georgia has no claim.

Liberty U is undefeated and Conference Champion 🏆. Why don’t they get a shot?

Probably in a 12 team playoff, they would.

FSU, as much as I hate them, have done everything they could do, especially with their starting QB out.

Bama lost early in the season and have improved.

I don’t honestly watch much PAC 12 football, or even Big 12 football, so it’s hard for me to comment on either of them.

Texas typically has great players.

If the committee wants to try to see the four best teams in the NCAA right now, they have to choose Bama over FSU. It’s not even a contest in my opinion, putting aside my personal dislike for all things FSU. The SEC is a much more competitive conference than the ACC, and everyone and their mother knows this.

But that’s just how I look at it.

Michigan should be out. Most of their victories are tainted by cheating. Washington, FSU, TX, AL

Last week, trailing their opponent all game, #8 Alabama won by a hail Mary pass in the last second to beat an unranked Auburn. This week they beat the #1 Georgia. Bamas problem has been no consistency all year, ergo #8.

The west coast teams, student athletes, and fans will be on the losing end since the Pacific Athletic Conference is most part gone. They are going to get their asses kicked by them and it will drive more fans away.

Greed (money) caused it all.

Too early to hit the bong or take a drink. Step away from the keyboard.

Texas is the real SEC Champion.

They won their championship. I personally think Georgia should be 4 but it won’t be.

I would think that if 9, 10, 11,12 play there would be 10 teams...8+2. What I am guessing is numbers 5-12 play off...to add 4 victors to the top 4...for a round of 8.

If a number 12 goes to the championship game that means that team plays 4 extra games. That is 16 games in that year. If there is a first round NFL pick on that team, ya’think that player wants to risk their future livelihood by getting a career ending injury?

Ι actually enjoy watching the FCS Playoffs.

Best game yesterday was the North Dakota State-Montana State game.

“ Brock Glenn did as was he supposed to do, not lose the game. Not much yards but NO TURNOVERS!!! Strangling defense did the rest!”

When Baltimore Ravens won the Superbowl with Flaco, the only thing that Flaco had to do was no turnovers.
