The was the basis for the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, how Queen had to fight to keep the record company from shortening the song.

It would have been ridiculous to cut one second from that song. It would have ruined it.

If “The Sermon on the Mount” were arranged into a musical score, it would crush Elton John’s “Funeral for a Friend” like an insect.

I found a used Don McClean CD the other day. It’s pretty good.

That must be “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” (or however it is spelled)!

Prompted by comments on this thread, I just now listened to “Free Bird” for the first time in my life, and I wasn’t impressed. I don’t understand why it’s considered “iconic,” or why it was even a hit. Cutting it down to about three minutes would have been an improvement.

The Beatles’ “Hey, Jude” would have been one of their best recordings had they not tacked on that stupid coda that repeated the same line 249 times and then faded out. Shortening that song and maybe adding a different ending, perhaps with a chord instead of a fadeout, would have vastly improved it.

Early 2000s, I saw EJ at The Tabernacle doing an AIDS benefit (yeah, I know) in ATL. Look up the venue. It’s *maybe* 1500 people.

Full band, they played almost all, if not all, early material from EJ, Tumbleweed Connection, Madman, GBYBR. The show was simply awesome.

Fiji,

Yeah, I never heard of it either, but I’m a Philistine who doesn’t know very much about music. I wish I had more time for artists, but I don’t.

Maybe try “Silver Bird” by Mark Lindsay, its about 3 minutes.

For my generation, that overplayed song was “With arms wide open” by Creed.

Could very well be. But I really like Echoes too. Dang. I guess I’ll just have to listen to them again to decide. Sadly that will leave me no time for Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift. But it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
