Back when men were MEN, they went out and tried stuff. It didn't always work, but at least they had balls. Now, bipeds who pretend to be MEN but aren't just snarkily ask "what could possibly go wrong?"

Like the idiot wokesters who want to change the names of things because someone in the past may have had views or done things they disagree with. They're standing on the shoulders of giants, and all they can do is squat to drop a deuce instead of striving to reach even higher.

From one of the early comments on
The Drive article:
Hmm, three J-69 engines. Same engine that was in the T-37s. Turned JP-4 into 300 decibels of dog whistle noise.
My 700 hours in that aircraft is the reason I'm going deaf in my old age. Those VZ-9 test pilots are probably all dead, but died without hearing a thing either.

Well they are being very honest and up front about what it is.
Maybe a bit too much.

The article describes stability (or lack thereof) as the main problem ... I bet that could be corrected by a modern fly-by-wire system. Recall that the F-16 is aerodynamically unstable and works only because of fly-by-wire.

It’s an antique. I remember this from my childhood. Thought it was going to be the ‘future’.
My parents were friends with a guy that was working on a similar vehicle in his garage in Memphis back in the 60’s. He was old then, probably 60’s himself, so he probably died long ago.
But I did get to see his full size mock-up in the garage...............

I’ve seen news clips of recoilless rifles fire from jeeps during the Vietnam war, the jeep still jerks.
Now imagine that without the benefit of being in the ground.

There are a few left. They are derided as much for their successes as their failures.
