Those who bet against NATO have been proven wrong. Those were the words of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as he dispelled doubts about allied fatigue in support of Ukraine.
Blinken was in Brussels with all 31 NATO foreign ministers, who gathered at NATO headquarters for two days this week to discuss how the allies can maintain unity in the face of multiple security challenges.
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg praised the work of alliance members for their continued commitment and the weapons provided to embattled Ukrainian forces. Other issues were also on the table, namely the elusive final steps of Sweden’s ratification process, which appears to be nearing completion.
The Western Balkans, China, and NATO’s southern borders were also discussed among the Allies, with Ukraine and Sweden in attendance.
Overlord had “leaked” long before. The buildup in England was so enormous it could not be hidden. Thats why the Germans fortified the French coast from Belgium to the Spanish border.
The only uncertainty was when (within a couple of weeks +/-) and exactly where.
Dumb ad hominem. And reportable to the mods.
If you only knew.

Luxembourg Foreign Minister Bettel emotionally addressed Russian delegation at OSCE meeting: “With your behavior, you have destroyed everything that we have built”

Speaking at an OSCE ministerial meeting, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel addressed the Russian delegation directly, saying that the real strength lies in ending the suffering of millions of people.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to European Pravda.
Notably, Bettel, who was prime minister of Luxembourg for 10 years and is openly gay, did not read his speech from the sheet or take his eyes off the Russians.
At first, he mentioned that he had Russian roots because his grandmother was from Russia.

“Having Russian roots, and having Russian contacts, I will say, maybe this will shock someone, but I had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, I had telephone conversations with him, exchanged views,” Bettel said.
According to him, after the start of a full-scale war, he called both Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He noted that he was even criticized by other leaders for trying to talk to Putin because it looked like a violation of unity.
“After Bucha, I felt that there was no desire to find a solution. I’m sad. With your behavior, you have destroyed everything we have built: cultural, political, economic relations,” he said, recalling that in a conversation with Putin he told him that his best friends are now North Korea, Syria and Eritrea.
“He told me about the Russian language, Nazis, biolabs... But we see that your side’s narrative is wrong. Starting a war is easy. Ending the war is a trait of leaders,” the Prime Minister of Luxembourg said.
In his opinion, it’s never too late to admit that you’ve made a big mistake.
“You have made a big mistake. I will not be here to hear Lavrov’s response. But stop. Stop what has no explanation, what has no reason. Believe me, the power is not in showing that you are stronger, but in ending the suffering of millions of people,” Bettel emphasized.

Russian Banking Exec Suddenly Dies After Losing 90 Percent of Profits

The sudden death of a Russian banking executive has drawn comparisons to past mysterious deaths of individuals in President Vladimir Putin’s orbit.
The number of deaths deemed as sudden or mysterious has increased since Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Fatalities among multiple business people and military officials have been linked to the Russian president and the Kremlin due to the economic struggles tied to international sanctions over the regional conflict that last week passed 21 months.
Such deaths have included both men and women purportedly falling out of windows, including some who were outspoken about Russia’s invasion and openly criticized Putin and his regime.
Others have been found dead in office buildings or in bodies of water. The Sun, a U.K. publication, estimates that more than 30 high-profile Russians have died since February 2022.
Nikolai Vasev, now formerly senior vice president of Russia’s largest financial institution, Sberbank, died at age 42 due to what the company described in a statement as a heart attack. The death was described as “untimely.”
“It is with deep regret that we inform you that today Nikolai Vasev, senior vice president, head of the B2C Customer Experience Development block of Sberbank, suddenly passed away,” a statement from the bank read.
“The bank’s management and colleagues mourn the untimely death and express deep condolences to the family and loved ones of Nikolai Vasev.”
Vladimir Putin Sberbank Russia Ukraine Sanctions
Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Russia, on November 28, 2023. The sudden death of a Russian banking executive has sparked new rumors due to the number of high-profile deaths in the country since its February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Vasev was reportedly promoted into his senior position in December 2022 and had overseen Sberbank’s private clients and properties for the preceding 12 years, according to Vox News Albania.
But the bank has reportedly faced a hard financial stretch since Putin’s invasion, causing an estimated 90 percent drop in profits resulting from innumerable sanctions imposed on Russian institutions by the European Union—some of the harshest sanctions imposed on any one country in the entire world.
Western sanctions against Russia have surpassed 14,500, according to U.S. think tank the Atlantic Council, including roughly 70 percent (10,173) of which are against individuals and another 28 percent (4,089) against entities like Sberbank. The sanctions were intended to put Russia’s economy in turmoil in retaliation for invading Ukraine.
Continued reports of Russian citizen dissatisfaction towards the war due to their own financial circumstances resulted in Russia’s Central Bank hiking interest rates at an emergency meeting in August, from 8.5 percent to 12 percent.
In late October, the bank announced another rate increase to 15 percent per annum, saying that “a long period of maintaining tight monetary conditions in the economy” will be required.
Last week, Putin’s billionaire ally and “favorite oligarch” Oleg Deripaska warned on his Telegram channel that a general drop in commodity prices, including those that Russia exports, will cause the economy to “hit the ice.”
On November 17, with the ruble already paling in comparison to the U.S. dollar, Russian lawmakers approved a 2024 budget of 36.66 trillion rubles ($411 billion) that includes a record amount allocated for defense spending.
On Monday, Putin approved the purchase of the Russian assets of U.S. construction manufacturer Caterpillar by Russia’s PSK-New Solutions, owned by former Sberbank executives, according to Reuters. Details of the value of Caterpillar’s Russian business were not disclosed.

Rock Rachon 30.11.23 Guests: Capt. Jukka Savolainen (ret.) On Wednesday, the Finnish government decided that the entire Finnish eastern border was closed for two weeks, i.e. until December 13. All border crossings with Russia remain closed and only in one place, in the south-east of the country, rail freight traffic is allowed. When closing the border, the Finnish government cited a “threat to the country’s security” in the face of Russia’s “hybrid operation”, which involves steering an organized inflow of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa towards Finland and further to the EU. Tonight on Rock Rachon we were joined by Captain Jukka Savolainen (ret.) – the director of the COI „Vulnerabilities and Resilience” at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats – to discuss this operation devised by the Kremlin.
