There are numbers that define the Prime Effect upon the University of Colorado in Boulder, a place that hasn’t always had a chummy relationship with football. First-year applications are up 26.4% year over year; Black or African American applications are up 80.6%; nonresident applications are up 29.8%; and international applications are up 38.4% from 97 countries, including 16 that didn’t have any applications last year. While those numbers cannot be definitively linked to Sanders, others can be: September sales at the school’s online team store were up 2,544% over the same month in 2022. Every home game in 50,183-seat Folsom Field was sold out for the first time in school history.

Losing record. Butt kissing somewhere.
Sportsperson of the year...more clicks on ESPN and si website than anyone else.
What a dumb accolade. If UC had gone 9-1....maybe.
They must have voted in September.
Yup- except for last year CU has won 4 or more games every season since 2015 and none of those coaches won any type of award
I'd nominate Harbaugh for bringing electronic surveillance to college football.
Don’t see it for what he’s done this year. Ok, Colorado went from 1 win in 2022 to 4 wins in 2023, that’s an improvement, but not what you’d call great.
He had 47 Colorado football players transfer to other schools after the 2023 Spring Game, literally lost half the team before the season started. If he is successful in recruiting and the portal for the upcoming year, then 6 or 7 wins would be a good season. Maybe give some awards then.
1-8 in conference and 4-8 overall. Laughable. He should lose his job.
Truly AMAZING!
In the year of the TRANNY a straight Christian family man is SI’s sportsperson of the YEAR?
Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Kinda like they way the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Obeyme.
He did bring a lot of attention and excitement to Colorado. But I’d expect he’ll leave as soon as his sons are drafted by NFL teams, so there’s definitely a time limit.
Amen! I like your post.Deion brings more than the three wins. He brings a great workman-like attitude and a huge infusion of spirit. And so far, despite the hoopla, I don’t see an egomaniac pounding his chest about how great he is.
I am in agreement with the award. Prime has brought tremendous interest into NCAA FB.
I am amazed at the disdain shown in previous posts.
...because everyone gets a trophy - especially those the Left wants to exploit.
Media like SI touted Sanders as the Second Coming for several weeks, and now he is the Man of the Year despite a mediocre record, so there is a circularity about the whole thing. This is an insult to people far more deserving. It is more a testament to the power of the media to distort reality for their own purposes.
For what! Being a black man in sports?
Well he did manage to win last place in the Pac 12. Did they give him coach of the year too?
Love him or hate him, he brings excitement.
Watched him play at Doak Campbell a few times. Did not disappoint.
