Argentina’s President-elect Javier Milei and American National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan discussed the outsized role his country may play in the global lithium industry if properly developed, multiple Argentine news outlets reported on Tuesday.
Milei and a small entourage of soon-to-be administration officials visited the White House on Tuesday for the tail end of a brief trip to the United States. Milei landed in New Jersey from Buenos Aires on Monday morning and made a stop in New York City to pray at the Ohel, a Jewish holy site where the seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, is buried. He then attended a lunch with former President Bill Clinton and former Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT), before traveling to Washington, DC.

China controls, some say, about 80% of the minerals/mines needed for the toy cars.
China, because Musk has to give them access to his technology, in exchange for building his cars in China, is about to jump into the EV market. So, I'd imagine they're giving themselves first dibs on the rocks.
Argentina supposedly has a massive amount of lithium. Argentina's economy is a disaster. What a perfect way for the country to lift itself out of economic despair than for it to start selling lithium at ridiculous prices.
But, Milei, the man of the people might have some issues:

All of that while the appetite for the toy cars is waning and sales are down. And Biden's policies being described as economic disaster.....Oh Well

“How can we (the U.S.) help Argentina succeed, without welfarism?”
Not asked.
I hope Argentina tells Bidung to pound sand
Stopped in New York to meet with Clinton before going to the White House to meet with the Biden Administration about mining lithium.
Sounds like another run of the mill South American money grabbing “El Presidente`”
“I hope Argentina tells Bidung to pound sand”
I doubt that happened, since he probably does not have a death wish.
Maybe...but if he opens up the lithium mines and charges 2, 3, 4 times the going rate, once China stops selling then he won’t need to be money-grabbing.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Biden and DC were upset that he won. Now they want his rocks.
China has already locked up rights to much of Argentina’s lithium. Biden should have been on this right from the start, instead of screwing over domestic energy producers.

Hmmmmmm.....I didn’t know that.
It’s no wonder the former leader is moving to Spain. He got his money and now it’s time to enjoy it. And leaves Argentina and Milei holding the bag.
Pretty good gig, if you can get it.
Since Biden wouldn't speak to him he should have walked out.
The Biden administration is treating him like trash and unfortunately he didn't protest.
This Javier Milei guy needs to be taking lithium himself he comes off as such a flake. He’s beyond eccentric I think he’s mentally ill.
Interesting that Afghanistan had lithium, IIRC.
There are Lithium deposits in the USA. Large ones.
And lots of copper
Home to more than 65 percent of the world’s known reserves, could Latin America’s “Lithium Triangle” formed by Argentina, Bolivia and Chile become the Saudi Arabia of the 21st century?
