Under-fire aide to NYC Mayor Eric Adams 'urged City Hall staffers to DELETE texts after FBI raided her home' amid corruption probe

An aide to New York Mayor Eric Adams accused of 'improper' behavior 'urged staffers to delete texts after the FBI raided her home', a source has claimed.

Director of protocol for international affairs Rana Abbasova was suspended from her role after the mayor's lawyers found she had tried to erase the messages, the New York Post reported.

Abbasova was put on leave from her $80,651-a-year role after she was found to have 'acted improperly' following an internal probe.

Her alleged misconduct is thought to be related to an FBI investigation into whether Adams' campaign conspired with a Brooklyn construction company and the Turkish government to funnel foreign money into the campaign's coffers.

Authorities looking into the matter obtained a court warrant to search the Mayor's mobile devices to determine if he had also received messages from Abbasova. But he did not receive a message, the source told the New York Post.

'It was immediately reported to investigators,' the source added, before clarifying communications between Adams and Abbasova were 'benign'.

Sources previously claimed that Abbasova had lied to federal investigators, the Post reported.

Her biography on the City Hall page describes her role as fostering 'closer relationships between the City of New York and the broader diplomatic community'.

She also 'manages engagements with foreign dignitaries'.

But a source alleged that earlier this year she took on a new role in the mayor's unit of events planning, working as a 'body person' who traveled with the mayor.

They said: 'Rana was a quiet, unassuming person'.

In her previous role as a community coordinator, when Adams was Brooklyn Borough President, she 'was responsible for international relations and maintaining relationships between the Borough President and stakeholders, including the Middle East and Central Asian countries.

If there was a competition to name THE biggest blockhead in the DNC, it would be near impossible to do that. (But Adams is a front runner)

The bench is too deep!!

Never move the body! Idiots don’t know that simply deleting an open text will not make it go away.

urged staffers to delete texts after the FBI raided her home

Wow…a criminal bureaucrat who is also stupid. This is my shocked face.

Here is a list of some of the major phone companies and their policies:

Verizon: Retains text message records for up to 1 year

AT&T: Retains text message records for up to 7 years

Sprint: Retains text message records for up to 18 months

T-Mobile: Retains text message records for up to 5 years

All kidding aside, $81k per year is a low level staffer in a large city in the United States, especially a city like New York or San Francisco.

Her title as "Director of Protocol for International Affairs" likely just means that she supervises two other staffers; the Director title being used to get her into meetings with other "directors".
