An exploding population of hard-to-eradicate “super pigs” in Canada is threatening to spill south of the border, and northern states like Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana are taking steps to stop the invasion.
In Canada, the wild pigs roaming Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba pose a new threat. They are often crossbreeds that combine the survival skills of wild Eurasian boar with the size and high fertility of domestic swine to create a “super pig” that's spreading out of control.
Ryan Brook, a professor at the University of Saskatchewan and one of Canada's leading authorities on the problem, calls feral swine, “the most invasive animal on the planet" and “an ecological train wreck.”
Pigs are not native to North America. While they've roamed parts of the continent for centuries, Canada's problem dates back only to the 1980s when it encouraged farmers to raise wild boar, Brook said. The market collapsed after peaking in 2001 and some frustrated farmers simply cut their fences, setting the animals free.

When they grunt they say; "Oink, eh?"

Are they immune to bullets? No? Good.
Free bacon to be had. No bag limit. Always in season.
Have at it fellas.
Generally pretty good! Feral pigs have a better diet than all but the most gourmet of farmed pigs. All delicious for bacon and sausage. Definitely need to marinate any chops and ribs you take out of the bigger boars, otherwise too gamey.
Most people only eat them prior to 3 months old.
Just shoot them and have a bacon, pork chop, rib fest.
This will put a kink in the establishment’s plan to feed us bugs.
IIRC, Alberta offers a bounty on feral hogs (does not include politicians or other 2 legged kinds). They do incredible damage to crops and habitat. The problem is, Alberta is large and sparsely populated. Of 4.4 million people in AB, 2.8 live in Calgary or Edmonton. Lots of agricultural and pasture land on which the hogs can live.
Not sure about other venues, but in Texas there is no season, no limit, no restrictions on how to bag ‘em. Land of bacon and sausage and mmm-mmm good ribs!
Just when food prices are highest, we have pigs delivered. Thank you, Canada, for not taking care of that problem.
What do you call a Pig ridin a Hawg?
* I don’t have an answer, but thought it made for an interesting Mind Picture.
Win 94 in .30-30 with 180gr SP’s...
Unless it’s a hogzilla... you can fill your freezer easily.
Swine taste better when you smoke them...
Pali’s... not so much.
I was wondering the same thing, a high-speed piece of lead strategically placed would stop even super pigs, I bet the bacon is especially good.
Roast Boar is hard to beat.

Hahahah!! Good one!
On a more serial note, why is it that urinalists these days always use “doomsday” adjectives to describe everything? Makes me want to vomit.

“A population of hard-to-eradicate ‘super pigs’ in Canada is threatening to invade the US”
